1st Birthday!

For Charlotte's birthday we decided to have a party at my parent's. They have a pretty spacious home and we were hoping to be able to do it outside but since winter doesn't want to leave spring alone we were inside. We had a lot of fun though. We had Scott's grandparents come, his mom, his brother Rick, his other brother Aaron with his wife Malia and daughter Olivia, my brother came with his 3 kids (Cami, Izzy, and Nolan) and of course my parents and sister. Unfortunately his dad had a city planning commission meeting and his other brother Mark, his wife Ashlee and their kids Ryan and Mylee couldn't make it that night. So we definately missed having them there but it's all good since Sunday we had a little get together at Scott's parent's.

We just kinda hung out for a while and the kids played and Olivia got to see the horses and feed the girls some carrots and we looked at the goats and sheep at the neighbors. Scott's mom was able to get a really yummy cake for us from Soelberg's. Luckily she has some connections and the cake was really really good. It had that super good whipped cream frosting so it wasn't all sugary sweet like buttercream where it's too much. Scott, Charlotte and I enjoyed finishing off the leftovers we had. Charlotte got some really neat presents. She got some books which she loves looking at with me. My brother got her a toy drum of course and this ball that has a monkey on it and makes noises. She got an outfit and some bubbles and some money to go towards the purchase of her new car seat which we finally bought! Yay! She really needed a new one. She was technically over the height limit on her old one. It was kinda sad to pack that away until our next kid but her new one is really nice and was rated the best in it's category by consumer reports. It had an excellent safety rating which is good enough for me. It's huge! Charlotte looks so tiny in it. I call it her princess throne becuase of the size comparison to her.

So she had a really good birthday and we had a lot of fun at her party. I was so glad we could get everyone together. I know my parents said they had a good time and my mom really enjoyed hearing stories from Scott's grandpa Bennion. She said there is a guy in her ward that has a lot of cool stories like he does. She thought they'd get along well. But I think everyone had fun and I know Charlotte had a blast. We were fighting to keep her awake on the way home so we could bathe her and get all the frosting off her. It was really good and I'm glad she had her family around her to celebrate. Anyway, here's some pics below. I'm not sure what setting my camera was on but there was a lot of red eye so just pretend like we don't look possessed :)

This was the morning of her birthday. I love these pjs on her.

I decided to make her homemade chocolate chip pancakes for her birthday breakfast

I bought her this shirt on sale at Old Navy a few months ago. It says "I'm the birthday girl, now gimme some cake.

This is her super yummy cake. I thought it was so cute and I love the bright colors.

I love that she's yawning at her party.... maybe we weren't that exciting....

She was a little confused at first

Notice the smile once she sinks her fingers in. Funny thing is she didn't seem too into it. I was also kinda distracted trying to serve up the other cake but I thought it'd be a huge mess and it wasn't terrible.

Nolan was excited for Charlotte's new toys. I ended up opening most her gifts. She just doesnt' get it yet and is kinda like whatever

She was so distracted by everything. Kids taking her toys and us trying to show her presents. I hope she didn't get too overwhelmed by it all. She seemed to do ok.

Playing with her drum

She was doing a little better here trying to open her gift

I had Chloe take pics for me and I was joking around saying it felt like my second birthday getting to open gifts.

Her see 'n' say

Sometimes I wonder if she likes the wrapping paper rather than the present... they are so amused by simple things

This is her "throne"/carseat. She better be comfy driving to cali in this thing. It's nice and roomy!
