So Scott and I were lucky enough to make 2 trips to the cabin this year. We spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday there. Friday Charlotte and I got up there by about noonish. Scott was able to make it by about 2:30pm. We hung around for a bit and then went to eat at Chili's.... but Charlotte fell asleep in the car so In 'n' Out was just down the street and we grabbed that to take back to the cabin. We even got Charlotte her own cheeseburger. She ate close to half of it.
Saturday morning we watched the first session of conference which was amazing. Then I packed lunch for us and once Charlotte woke up from her nap we headed up the canyon to drive part of the Alpine Loop. First off... from where the cabin is at Wildwood up to Sundance there are so many beautiful fall colors. So its about 2 miles from the cabin to Sundance and Scott and I had never noticed this before but they run the ski lift all summer. I totally wanna ride it! We thought Charlotte might be too young this year but we are so doing it in the future. I don't know if they had something going on at Sundance this weekend but it was packed! So as we drove further up we just admired all the beauty. I wanted to go to Cascade Springs first. Its so pretty and apparently word has gotten out. It was packed! We could hardly find a parking spot. Maybe because this was the last warm weekend. Normally we go and its colder and nobody is there. But not today! So we ate lunch in our car then went for a walk down to the springs. I got a few pics of Charlotte and Scott but like I said it was packed so it was hard to get some really good ones.
From there we took a drive. I was trying to find the place I had found a couple years ago and there were all these beautiful fall colors around. I couldn't find it so we pulled off near this trail. The Aspens are still beautiful and I love the contrasting greens and yellows with the dark green pines. So here's some pics of Charlotte I got while she was playing and walking around. I wish I had a better camera but not too bad.
Here's some other pics I took
Then here's some pics I took and tried to piece together. This was a view.... I think it was Deer Creek or something. It's a turnout on the way to Cascade Springs:
So after this trip we went back to the cabin and sat around with Toby for a bit. Then we went to Scott's little brother's house in Provo. I love calling Rick Scott's little brother because although he's 4 yrs younger than him he's got like 4-5 in on him. But Rick recently moved into this house with some of his friends. It's so sweet! They have a huge plot of land behind the house. I told him we totally have to bbq there or something. It's a really cool house. It was fun visiting him and I got to hold Pockets.... his roommates cat. He's so cute! Charlotte thought the kitten was cute too. So we talked to him for a bit and Charlotte ran around the yard. Then we had to go so Rick could go to the Priesthood session. Scott was gonna go but Charlotte's late nap threw off our schedule and we were up the canyon longer than planned and still had to eat. So we went and ate at Chili's. We had a gift card so we figured we'd use that and save some money. Then we stopped at Harmon's to pick up a couple things I needed to cook the next day. They just so happen to sell slices of pie so we got a couple slices and shared. Oh man were they good! I wish we had a Harmon's in Tooele... great bakery!
Sunday we planned to just watch conference. I packed up a bit in the morning. Then Rick came up to watch conference with us. I made some fajitas for lunch then we watched the 2nd session and got packed up and headed home. We had so much fun and thought it was way too early to go home. We just love it up there. We also noticed a cabin for sale and really wish we had a chunk of cash laying around because how sweet would it be to have our own cabin up there? Oh well.... that's what the family one is there for! We're already planning our trip next year and what we're gonna do. Until then......

how fun! I can't believe how blond Charlotte's hair is getting!
I know! She's so blonde... I'm not sure how blonde Scott was as a kid but my hair was pretty blonde, especially since I was in the sun so much as a kid. I'm sure her hair will be brown like ours by the time she grows up.
