I have been fortunate enough to always live where the nearby temple does Christmas lights. Lucky me! It was a lot of fun when we used to be able to help put them up at LA but I don't miss those stinkin' olive trees! Pain in the rear! So anyway... Scott and I thought about making it a tradition last year where we go out to dinner Christmas eve and then go see the temple lights. Well that changed this year. We got lucky and had some really nice weather... we're talking like 50 in December... yeah... don't get that very often. So this past Sunday Scott's meeting had been cancelled and we didn't have any plans with family so we thought, lets go see them now while it's not freezing so we don't have to bundle up as much and its a great place to be on a Sunday as a family. So we left just after the sunset and headed into SLC. It was so nice outside. Charlotte only wore her hat and a coat.... partly because she hated the mittens... I was surprised the hat stayed on. But it wasn't so cold where I was worried about her hands being too cold. So anyway... it was PACKED but we were able to park at the conference center for free so the walk wasn't like 3 or 4 blocks.
Charlotte loved the lights and thought everything looked so cool. I took some pics of course. It's funny that the coat she's wearing is a 6-9 month old size but its still fits... a little more snug but not bad at all. Her 18 month old one just looked so big. Now I don't know if we've never noticed this before... we could probably ask Scott's dad since he works over there... but I never remember there being so many different nativities around by the Church office building. They have like paper bags with candles or lights in them and all around the fountain they have these metal cut out things with lights in them. It looked so beautiful and I wish my camera took better pics but I tried to take the best ones I could. I also got a picture of the church office bldg where Scott's dad works. That building is so huge when you just stand in front and look up. I just love temple square. So anyways... here's the pics we took. It was nice to not be freezing and to spend our Sunday evening there as a family.
Here's just some of the lights and decorations from different areas around Temple Square.
I was telling Scott as we walked by the conference center looking at the temple how glad I am we were married there. Not only is it so beautiful but I love being able to go and visit as a family and to have the opportunity to take our kids to where we were all sealed together and to see where Scott proposed. I love it.
Some of the pics of us and Charlotte. She was so cute bundled up. The middle pic on the far right is Charlotte playing where Scott proposed to me. We tried to get her to turn around for a pic but its much more fun to try and get into the water.
