Some changes and things...

I'm going post crazy. It's been a while since I've done an update and I've been taking lots of pictures. So this post is about why I haven't had time to blog. I got this sudden urge to organize more. I decided to go through all of Charlotte's clothes one day and condense them in the totes I have. Only problem was I didn't have extra totes to start this. So realizing this I thought, hey, I have a couple totes I use to rotate out spring and summer stuff and I'm sure I can cram it into one and get rid of other things. So I did. Then I had our entire living room filled with clothes from size newborn to 18 months separated into piles of dresses, shirts, pants, pjs, etc. I had to do this while Charlotte napped and that was really hard to do. I had to fold stuff really neat and flat to get it all to fit. I was able to put all of her blankets and burp cloths into a tote and keep all her small shoes together. I re-labeled it all so hopefully next time we have a kid I can pull it all out super easy... well if its a girl I guess. Which I really hope for because To buy all that stuff for a boy would be a pain and cost a lot of money.

So I got that done. Then I started thinking about Charlotte growing up and what we were gonna do as far as a bed and all that. Well I decided that instead of trying to take apart the crib and move it into the other room we should just clean out the back room and we'll eventually get a bed for in there and have that be Charlotte's new room. It has a bigger closet. I can condense her clothes down to the smaller dresser and hang up more stuff in her closet. So that's the plan. I had a desk in there that matches Charlotte's furniture. It was originally my moms then my brothers. Then for one of my young womens projects I stripped it, sanded it and re-painted it and it became mine. Now it's Charlotte's. So this desk matches but I use it to store paper and craft stuff and computer/electronic stuff. I kinda had an office thing going in there but decided to move it to our kitchen/dining area and that would work okay for me. Still outta the way enough and brings a little color in. When I re-painted all that stuff my parents got glass tops for it. It makes it a little nicer. But the white top looks so blah. So digging through my stuff I found some fabric scraps I bought in a print that I loved from Dean Miller. I love Dean Miller. I have bought all my bedding from there. Even Charlotte's stroller blankets and her crib set. So I used this fabric on top of my desk to add a little something too it. I love tropical stuff anyway so it works for me. I have pictures!
So then I found my modge podge. A woman with modge podge can be dangerous. I had some desk stuff that I thought would be fun to modge podge more Hawaiian print fabric I had. So I did. I also had a collection of glass soda bottles. It was very small and they were mainly Coke bottles but I liked to keep them for whatever reason. So I decided to modge podge some fabric on those too. I also have a ton of raffia from when my parents cleaned out their garage so I addes a bit of that too. I thought I could use the bottles as little flower vases around the house. The bottle can add a nice pop of color and I can use flowers I get from the garden. Hopefully my seeds grow in good this year! Otherwise I'll just have to buy some cheap ones every now and again at the store. So here's what I got:
So then I cleaned out all the drawers and re-organized it all and this was my final product. Really hard to condense that stuff down but it works for now. I also have a really cute picture frame/sign thing to hang up thats sitting behind that vase. I need to get some updated pics of us for it. Maybe when Charlotte turns 2. I wanna get that hung up too.

So that was my little crafty moment. So I got that done in about 5 hrs one afternoon. Then I spent the next couple days going through financial records. I have a bunch I need to shred. I kept the important stuff and filed some things away. It had been a few months since I had done that. Then Scott caught my bug. He went through his totes in the basement and was re-organizing mission stuff and his sports stuff. Throwing out old things and putting back others he had out for a while. Then we talked about moving the book cases we had in that back room downstairs. We hardly use the books on them and if we need to we can just go downstairs and get it. No big deal. So in between conference sessions on Sat. I had to run errands and the punk moved them both down stairs. They're not very big but heavy enough. The books are super heavy on them. We had just bought them at DI so they were only like waist high. But he managed to do that in the hour I was gone. He's so good. So the whole back room was cleaned out minus a few things I neatly organized in the closet like extra blankets and the gift bags I've kept to reuse. Oh and the snake is still back there. Trying to decide where to move him. No big hurry right now. And my wedding dress too...I'll find a safe spot for that eventually. So for now the back room is Charlotte's play room. We set up one of her tents and her tunnel and she has the rocking horse thing we got from Scott's brother down there. It's so nice and open. Here's how it looks:
I'm just so thankful that without the finished basement our house is a 3 bed 2 bath. I know bunk beds can comfortably fit in the back room. Our neighbor has done that for her girls. So we shouldn't have a problem with space for sometime. Now depending on how many kids we have and how many girls, the bathroom thing could be a problem in the future when you have teenage girls trying to share a bathroom. But that's a long ways away and who knows where we will be in life then.

Anyway, so that's why I haven't been blogging as much. I'm sure I'll get busier too. We finally figured out, after 3 yrs I might add, how our sprinklers work! Its a miracle! So this year I finally will have sprinklers to water the lawn! So exciting. When our Realtor showed us this house the listing she had said nothing about a sprinkler system but we could see a control board to wire up for the sprinklers and sprinkler heads everywhere. So we were confused but could never figure it out. Then my dad was over and we were talking about stuff and he got to thinking and we did and discovered where it was. So yay. He's gonna come over in a couple weeks and help us get it fixed up. We have a couple broken heads we know of plus the valves that control the different areas are busted. So we'll have to buy some pvc parts to fix it up but hopefully we can get it running this month. I'd love to get out in the yard more and try to make something of this horrible yard we have. It's hard though when you don't really have extra money to even buy plants or anything. I'm thinking about paving more where our hoop is gonna go up. We're hoping to get that up in the next month or two also. So lots of things going on. I'm just trying to keep busy. Keeps my mind off of the trying to get pregnant thing. Otherwise I get kinda sad and frustrated. So if I keep busy with Charlotte and trying to improve our home and just things we have going on here it helps. Plus if I keep busy I can control my appetite easier and I don't cook up as many sweets and junk. Being busy can be a very good thing. So yeah, there it is.

Oh and I posted a couple new recipes I tried out on my other blog. You can check it out here:
