4th of July

This year Charlotte actually got up pretty early than she has been but it worked out. It gave us plenty of time to get ready. We were gonna ride our bikes and thought we'd stop at Macey's and grab some donuts for breakfast.  So after that we rode our bikes up to the retirement home where Scott's Grandma Spence is for her rehab on her shoulder. We thought it'd be fun to watch the parade with her. The weather was amazingly perfect that day. We've been so lucky on the 4th the last 3 or 4 years. It was overcast and cool. It even rained a little bit while riding up. It was so nice. They had his grandma on the patio they have out front so we sat there with her and Charlotte ran around. We were set a little further back so I didn't take any pictures of the parade. After that we decided to head over to the park. We took our bikes to the Transcript and then walked to the park from there. They do stuff there all day. They have vendors and food. Of course I didn't get cash. We had planned to eat lunch at Dairy Delight. Next year we're eating at the park though.

Charlotte went and played on the playground for a while and then she just was getting really tired and whiny so we decided to hit up Dairy Delight for lunch. It was packed of course. We knew the wait would be a while and Charlotte was not very patient. So Scott borrowed a work truck and walked back to the Transcript with Charlotte and put our bikes in the back and then we'd take it home. Plus our food was bulkier than planned. I went with a Navajo taco and there is no way I could have carried it on the bike. So we drove very carefully back to the house with Charlotte just buckled in the back seat. She ate some taquitos on the way home. We got home and ate a very disappointing lunch. We have vowed never to eat there on the 4th again. My Navajo taco was pretty gross. It was really soggy. Scott's beastly Old Fashioned wasn't very good and the bun was pretty dry. He got a soft taco too that he said was ok. The taquitos and the fried pickles were awesome but all they had to do was fry those up. So yeah... sad day. That is why lunch next year we will eat at the park. The Navajo tacos there looked really good and were probably a lot cheaper.

After we ate a not so great lunch we got Charlotte down for a nap then headed to my parents for a bbq. My mom and I had bought this little blow up pool for Charlotte so she played in that. We didn't really do many fireworks this year. We didn't want to scare the animals at my parents so we just did smoke balls and sparklers since they don't make noise. We're gonna do more for Pioneer Day since the kids will be here. And now since aerial fireworks are legal in UT we wanna do some of those for the kids. It'll be fun. They actually come this Saturday! Woohoo! So anyway, we ate burgers and hot dogs and then we made homemade strawberry ice cream. Oh man was it good! We got home about 9:15 and Charlotte and I hurried to shower. I wanted to drive her out to Deseret Peak to see the big fireworks. She called them pops. As we drove out you could see them shooting them off. By the time I made it out there and found a place to park they just ended. Go figure. She was tired though and crashed minutes later. She had had a long day. She loved the few fireworks she did get to see though. The little bug was so cute. She didn't wake up at all when I got her out of her car seat and laid her down. It was a long busy day but the weather made it so much nicer.
