The zoo... 3rd time this year!

Last Saturday we took Charlotte to the zoo and went with Scott's brother and sister in-law and their two kids, William and Olivia. Since the zoo is still working on their big polar bear exhibit they did this dinosaur exhibit like thing for the summer. It's called Zoo-rassic park. They have animatronic dinosaurs placed throughout the zoo near the other exhibits. It was actually pretty cool.

Of course the day started out with standing in line waiting waaaaaaaay too long to buy tickets because these two ladies in front of me and Aaron were whining about like a $3 difference in what they were told on the phone the night before. I was so annoyed. Seriously ladies? We just wanna get our tickets and get in the zoo! 2 year olds are not patient! So after the annoyance of getting into the park, it was a really good day.

This was the second dino we saw. They actually had it spitting out water too.

They had these wood horse things by the exhibit where they used to have the albino crocodile. So we got Charlotte and Livy on them. Inside the exhibit they have some new animals. They have a super cute armadillo.  We saw them all over the roads in Florida as roadkill. It's so sad. I guess it would be like all the deer and skunks and racoons up here. Then they had these weird little things swimming in a tank. Not sure what they were but sometimes they'd swim upside down. Such weird little creatures.

Then we went to go see the elephants. The mama and baby were actually together so it was fun to see them. Charlotte loves elephants. We got her a little stuffed animal one later on. I love hearing her try to say elephant. It's cute. Oh and it was the mama elephants birthday! Her name is Dari and she turned 51 that day! A half hour from when we were there they were going to let her open up presents but we really didn't want to stick around. The kids wanted to see more animals. They could have cared less about anything else.

There were some more dinos and even one the kids could climb on so we got Livy and Charlotte to climb on it and then I had Aaron go and climb in its mouth. Such a good sport! The gorillas and orangutans are outside for the summer so we got to get a peek at them in a little more natural habitat.

We came up on another dino. This one reminded me of Jurassic Park. I would be terrified to meet up with one of these guys! I had to get a picture of this squirrel. Smart guy. He was still there when we walked by like 20 or 30 minutes later. He is gonna be fat for winter!

I got Scott to pose for me on the tigers. So cute :) We were kind of able to see the tigers. There was one just sleeping and I'm not sure where the others were. And I don't know if it was heightened pregnancy smell or what but I could smell where they had sprayed. So gross! Nasty male tigers! All the giraffes were outside. That was what Livy wanted to see the most. She was dying to see the giraffes!

After we saw all the animals we took Charlotte on the carousel. She seemed kinda weird at first and quiet but when it came to getting off she was not happy. Charlotte had us up early that day so Scott was a little tired around noon.

After the carousel we rode the train. I didn't get pics. But it was the same deal as the carousel. She didn't want to get off. But to distract her we took her to playground to let her play. It was hardly crowded which was nice. Charlotte loves to play on playgrounds and she had a blast.

Now leaving was tricky. She was getting so tired and she did not want to go. So we took thought taking her to pick out a little stuffed animal at the gift shop would ease the pain. It kind of did. Then the day ended with a bang when we were trying to go out the rotating gate thing. Scott and Charlotte were in front of me and I had the stroller since it takes up some room. This lady and her two kids just walk right in front of me. I was like "excuse me!" She doesn't even turn around and I had to back out so I wouldn't get hit by this rotating gate. Since Scott was making it move he stopped and turned around and said, "Hey. You just cut her off." The lady said a quiet sorry without looking at me and didn't sound sincere at all. Then she pushes her kids over to this big black suburban where someone had pulled up front to pick her up. I was just like, are you kidding me? Are people seriously that rude and that uncaring? Apparently. I kept saying stuff loudly as she walked away about how it didn't matter that I was there first or just trying to leave the zoo with my daughter and husband. I was so mad at this stupid lady! Then one of the workers overheard me saying how I can't believe that people are that rude and she agreed with me. It was funny. I'm sure she encounters plenty in a day. Nevertheless we had a fun day at the zoo, minus the couple incidents of stupid people. We fought to keep Charlotte awake until we could get to Chipotle to grab some lunch and she crashed within about a minute of being put back in the car. She was so tired! It was a good trip though!
