New Computer

We need a new computer. I hate using ours because simple things that should take 5-10 min end up taking me 30-45 min because the computer is slow and then the kids interrupt every few min. So in my research I have learned our computers seem ancient compared to our computer now. So from what I see a basic computer will have at least 2 gb of ram. What do our computer and laptop have? About 500 mb each. 500 MB! oh my goodness no wonder I hate my computers! They are so not made to keep up with today's stuff. Our laptop has recently been giving me the blue screen of death. It is only a matter of time before that dies. Until then I should still be able to hopefully use it for videos with lessons but I really do need to look into something in the future. I was in a panic Sunday morning because I was teaching the combined lesson with two really good videos I wanted to show but my laptop would only play one of them well. The other video didn't let me choose a size to download and the laptop did not like the only option it had. It kept stopping and it was not good. I have had this happen a couple times during lessons so then I'm stuck trying to do something else or basically go over what the video taught in my own words. Luckily this last Sunday I was talking to our YM pres and his wife who is our Laurel advisor and they both had devices for me to use. Of course when the time came I couldn't get it working. Windows 8 is so confusing to me and trying to work a tablet is entertaining. Luckily their daughter was there and could help get it going. I am fully capable of using technology if I have it and can use it regularly. But we don't have that kind of money so last minute trying to get these things working does not work for me. When I'm standing in front of a class I don't have time to learn how to do stuff. I need to just do it. Someday I'll get there!

So I have been looking online at stuff because we really need a new computer. We have bills that need to be paid when our tax return comes but I really need to have something that works. Every time I connect my printer to the computer it does something with my wireless adapter and disconnects me from the internet. I can't access the program to reconnect unless I shut the whole computer down and turn it on again. Restarting won't fix it. It's weird and messed up. The computer freezes a lot when I'm doing lessons. I write down a lot of stuff because I hate to print. I can't open more than a couple of talks at a time when I'm planning. Videos are hard to watch because they pause a lot. Facebook is the worst. If anyone comments or likes something of mine the whole thing goes into super slow I'm not going to work for 5 minutes mode until the notification finally pops up. I have a hard time putting pictures up and blogging because it is also super slow. I would blog a lot more often if it wasn't such a chore to hook up my camera and go through getting pictures up and waiting for it to connect to google plus. I could go on forever... seriously. There are so many issues. But I found something pretty good from HP that I think is going to work for us. We don't need a monitor. My awesome brother had some extra ones laying around. I think its like 21 in and its flat screen. Not big like the ghetto ones like we had before. This thing is so nice. I love the monitor. It's nicer than our tvs! So I at least don't have to worry about that. Plus they will do financing with Bill Me Later so I could get it soon and not have to worry about any interest for 6 months which I can pay it off  before then. So I'm really thinking I'm going to get it because I can't take it any more. I've considered buying a cheap laptop too but I don't know. I'd have to go through someone else to get a cheap refurbished one under $200. I will not pay more than that.

I just need some relief. With everything I use the computer for it should not take up so much of my time and it does because I spend way too much time sitting and waiting for it to run. I cannot go on! So I will no longer be blogging until I get a new one and I probably will stay away from facebook. I used to check my email every day but I only do that once a week. It hasn't been so good because I've missed out information for meetings and stuff. Texting is the only way anyone can get to me immediately. So if its computer related I try to avoid it except I am teaching again Sunday. So until I get a new computer, which will most likely be in the next couple weeks, I will be slightly disconnected. Next time I'm back I should be a lot happier :)
