I have been busy working on some Youth Conference stuff. We're heading down to Fillmore next week for that. Thurs through Sat. Hopefully the kids behave well from him. This will be my first time ever away from the kids. I've also been busy with camp prep. We still have so much to do and only about a month and a half left but its going to be awesome. I'm so excited. I've been working really hard on personal progress. Trying to finish up my Virtue and Individual Worth project by June. I'm also presenting a plan to get our RS on board and supporting the girls and doing personal progress. I'll be making that presentation tomorrow. I know without a doubt that I am a better leader and wife and mother because of personal progress so I'm hoping others will have the desire to better themselves too. My testimony of the scriptures is so much stronger than it was. There is so much cool stuff in the Book of Mormon. Why did I wait until I was 30 to really study and understand this stuff?
We recently had a death in our ward. A husband and father of a family in our ward. It really kind of put some things into perspective. I obviously know the fragility of life and how short our time here on earth can be but it really clicked more with this happening so close to home. We can't procrastinate the day of our repentance. There is so much good we can be doing. In a conversation I had with the new RS pres (she was called in within a couple of weeks of me being called in as pres) she asked how I was doing and I asked her the same. We both of course answered busy but then she said, it's a good kind of busy. I totally agreed with her. It's ok to busy when you're doing the Lord's will. That is the best kind of busy there is. And taking care of kids and my home falls right into it. It's so much easier to be good when you fill your time with good activities. It's so much easier to be good when you surround yourself with good people. I am thankful for all I am learning in this position. I am so thankful for spiritual experiences I've had. I am so thankful for the guidance of the Book of Mormon and daily scripture study which has given me a lot of answers to questions I've had about the youth. It's amazing what the power of prayer can do. It's amazing what happens when you study your scriptures and ponder them. So many things I constantly share with the girls. I want them to love the gospel the way I do. I want them to have these experiences at a much younger age than I did. I just hope I can help teach them.
So as you can see church definitely consumes a big chunk of my time. I don't think we've had much else happen. Most things have been running smoothly and hopefully we'll be getting Charlotte ready for kindergarten this summer. She did great on her evaluation and was able to do almost everything they asked. Can't believe she's growing up so fast!
