Youth Conference

June 5th-7th I was gone at youth conference. This was my first time being away from the kids besides being in the hospital. So this was new but ended up being really fun. So we did our youth conference in Fillmore. They do this program where you get learn some history about the state and they have all kids of games and fun stuff to do. They have a pool too. It was cheap (only like $30/youth I believe) and leaders were free. We camped on grass and had flushing toilets and showers. It was very laid back which was nice. Me and my first counselor, Shelly, took over getting all the food together but the youth actually planned the food. We ended up with way too much food. I was pretty sure the quantities they asked for were a lot but we went with it. Now we have spaghetti and meatballs and dutch oven stuff already for camp! Haha! We ended up becoming good friends with a Spanish Fork ward next to us and had dinner together the last night. They were so nice and we shared a lot of food. I have a bunch of pics. I mainly just took them the first day because it was kind of hard to carry my camera around the second day and we participated a little more the second day.

The first little group is from our scavenger hunt we had on the way down. We took a bunch of pics then a couple of the leaders put together a slide show later. It was pretty hilarious to see what the groups came up with. We had fun with it for a while... then we just got sick of stopping. Haha!

We started out at McDonald's. Courtney has the hat on. She will be one of my Laurels come Aug. Sarah is my current Laurel Class Pres. and is sitting on top of the slide. She was one of my Beehives when she moved into the ward. Kaitlyn is in the slide and was one of my very first Beehives! She graduated this year which makes me feel old! And Shelly (my first counselor and our camp director-busy much?) is on the right.

So we had all these clues to follow and had to take pics

Two random military helicopters in the middle of nowhere.

I thought it'd be funny just to get my face in the pic looking duh... worked about right! Haha... I won't post the other one... I looked horrible! Hahaha! :)

I have learned that if I leave my phone or camera in the hands of young women that this will happen :)

So once we got there we settled in and set up up camp. Then after setting up and eating lunch the youth went off for the opening meeting and then played a game of rounders. Kind of like baseball in a way. Some different rules but it was fun to watch them play. I snagged pics of our youth playing.

Just as were about to leave. I forgot to get a pic of the statehouse.

While we were there we did a scavenger hunt and I found pics of my 3rd and 4th great grandfather. They had pics of all the founders of Fillmore in the basement and their pics were there. I came home and did some research in my 4th great grandfather's journal. It was pretty interesting stuff. So many cool thing I never know and he basically headed up the establishment of Fillmore. He had record in his journal of some stories from there and his travels all over the state. Here are their pics:

Pretty cool stuff! So we had a blast and now it's all about camp. We are prepping for camp like crazy now. Lots to do and so little time! One month countdown! :)
