2 weddings and a trip to SLC

Well we had a fun filled weekend. Friday Scott, Charlotte and I went to lunch with his mom. It's always nice to get out of the house and lunch with family is always a good thing. Then Scott had to go back to work so I went with his mom to Walmart and we did a little shopping. She was getting gifts for the 2 receptions we were going to that night. There was Kim and Kyle (Kim was actually one of Scott's ex girlfriends and his friend's sister and Kyle is from his home ward. Kyle's mom works at my ob/gyn's office so I know her from there and his dad was my nurse during my surgery. Small town) and Aly and Race (Aly is Scott's friend's sister. Scott's known their whole family for quite sometime and I've been lucky enough to get to know them too. They are awesome. I don't know Race but he seems like a really good guy). Both couples are just super cute together and just seem perfect for eachother. We were very fortunate that Kim and Kyle's reception was at Scott's home ward's building and then a couple blocks west was Aly and Race's so we could easily walk to both. It was really great to see the happy couples and their families. Both very nice receptions too. We spent more time at Aly's since more of Scott's friends were there. We got to hang out with the Wetzel's, the many Roberts' and others. I also just happened to see someone from Simi there. I looked over and noticed this really tall red head and thought, that looks just like Aaron Metcalf. I wasn't sure if he'd recognize me since I didn't know him very well but I know his family. I played bball with his sisters in high school. So I was glad he came over to talk and catch up on things and hear how all his family is doing. I guess he is actually dating Aly's cousin so thats how he ended up in Tooele for the evening. So it was a really good day with friends and family. Here's some pics from Friday:
The top left is Ezra Roberts. I finally got to meet him for the first time. He's such a cutie. Then there are some of Marlee Roberts. She's so chunky and so cute! Then of course little Mikey Wetzel. He's almost a month older than Charlotte. Love all the little kiddos. We'll be sad when the Wetzel's all move away. Daniel is going into the Marines so we wish him the best and Hannah and Mikey will be back in MO and look forward to pics of baby Dinah when she comes. It'll be sad not seeing them around but maybe on holidays and maybe they'll end up back in Tooele some day. We'll miss 'em for sure!

So Saturday we were sitting around that morning trying to decide what to do. I get a little antsy by the weekend if I haven't gotten out much and like to try and find something cheap and fun to do as a family. I was thinking the Tracy Aviary since I had a coupon and we could get in for only $5. Then I thought maybe Scott's parent would want to go. They had been outta town and also had gone to a couple concerts so we hadn't seen them much. We thought it'd be fun for them to do something with Charlotte. So Scott called them up and luckily they weren't to exhausted from everything and came. We ate lunch at Del Taco then went to the Aviary. It's a really cool place to visit. Bigger than I thought it was. They have pelicans and condors, peacocks that roam around and just all sorts of birds. They have this cool place called Destination Argentina. I guess some of our birds here in Utah like to migrate to Argentina for the winter. That's a long trip. But kinda cool since Scott served there and his parents have been twice. I think Charlotte had a good time too. She probably had more fun walking around than anything but she did pretty good. I just love going to places like that. It's fun but educational and I just love animals so aviaries, aquariums and the zoo are some of my fav's. It was a really good day though and I had a blast. Then we topped off the afternoon with a stop to my most favorite grocery store (thanks to their cheap prices) Winco! I really love this place. Here's some pics from the aviary:
These are some of the birds you'd see down in Argentina. The picture that's on the left second from the bottom is of a type of parakeet. They are very loud but so cute. Scott's parents remembered seeing those when they visited most recently to pick up my brother in law, Rick. Scott couldn't remember any of these from his area.

Some pictures of Charlotte and the peacocks and the pelicans. I never really noticed how big pelicans are. Every time I saw them they would be flying over the water at the beach or diving into it fishing but I was never close enough to see how huge they are.

Theres a golden eagle and some type of condor, sun conures and a couple toucans. Oh we also got to go on the carousel. Scott's parents bought tickets so we took Charlotte for her first ride ever! I think she really like it. Also, for anyone reading this that's outta state, we had a little oil spill in SLC. The Tracy Aviary is at Liberty park and they have a pond there and I guess wherever the water comes from it goes into the pond here. So that's what that sign is from. It was Chevron's fault but they seem to be getting things under control for the most part. Just a matter of cleaning it all up. Quite the project they have going on down there.

Then we have Sunday. We went to church and of course its during Charlotte's nap time so she gets kinda fussy. Well Scott ran into his friend Kerianda in the hall who just happens to live around the corner and Scott home teaches her family and she's in nursery. So she offers to take Charlotte into nursery even though she's not quite 18 months. She did pretty good too. I think she likes playing with the kids more since toys, snacks and kids are much more entertaining than sitting in class with me or Scott. It was kind of a relief to actually enjoy classes. So once we got home and Charlotte crashed Scott and I were able to squeeze in a nap. It was so nice to get some rest. Then we headed down to my parent's house for dinner. It's always fun going down there and getting to see the horses and play outside. Although yesterday was hot but we made milkshakes so that made up for the heat.

So I'd say that's a pretty successful weekend. We all had a good time. Scott and I get to go to the temple tomorrow to do sealings then Scott has Friday off for Lagoon day. His work always takes off the 24th (pioneer day) and they pay for everyone to go to Lagoon with their families. We've never actually gone the day he has off. We would save our tickets and go later. But now that Charlotte's a little older we decided we would go. We also had an extra ticket so Chloe is gonna go with us too. We may spend a lot of time at Lagoon-a-beach but we'll see how bad the heat is. I'm excited. I can't ever complain about free or cheap trips. So I'm sure I'll be updating more then.
