So last Friday was mine and Scott's first real date night since before we had Charlotte. We've been out to dinner a couple times I think and done baptisms with the youth but haven't like really gone and done anything longer than an hour and not in town. So getting tickets to the Rock Yourself to Sleep tour in SLC was a big event for us! So I mentioned before that I knew a couple of the people who were opening for the bands on tour. I was able to see them and talk to them which I wasn't sure I'd be able to do because of the venue but it worked out. They were at their merch booth when we came in and I got to talk to them for a min and wish them luck before they went on. They were so much fun! It was so loud and just reminded me of the shows I used to go to. I had a lot of fun being there. So The Material did great and put on an awesome show. Then There for Tomorrow went on followed by The Secret Handshake. We decided to leave after that since we were really tired and didn't wanna be out super late. So sadly we missed Sing It Loud and Every Avenue but oh well. I really liked the Secret Handshake. They were really fun and peppy. I really wanna download some of their stuff. Now I know Scott isn't a huge fan of going to shows but I'm glad he was willing to go with me. I think he had a good time too. He liked Jon and Colleen too. He was saying how nice they are and they were really cool. They hugged him like they had known him since forever. It was nice to catch up a bit and see them. They're hoping to go on tour again this fall so Scott and I told them if they're back in SLC we'll totally be there.
So overall it was a good night and since the venue was pretty hot we stopped off at a 7-11 and took what change we had left to get gas to make it home and a slurpee. I was just glad to be with Scott that night. We always have so much fun together and its kinda funny to see all these teenagers who know so little of what real life is like. Oh how my eyes have been opened to the real world! I love date night though and we really need to be better at going out and doing stuff like that even just once a month.
Colleen is the lead singer of The Material and her hubby is one of the guitarists. That's a pic of us below. The other pics are them performing and their fellow band member with a sweet stache. Then there is the one pic of one teenage girl there. So sad. I don't know who told her its ok to wear a dress that doesn't fit or zip up in the back. So sad they let her go out like that. Those are not good friends!
So this is a little video I shot. The sound sucks (thanks camera) but don't they just look like they're meant to rock?! They did great! Awesome job!
