4th of July Weekend

Oh what a weekend it was. As Scott and I laid down we were talking about what a great long weekend we had together. It all started with date night of course. Then Sat. we went to the 4th of July parade where we got to hang out with the Wetzel's and also meet up with some other friends at the park. We ran into Scott's parents too since his dad ran the 5k before the parade. Then a yummy lunch at American Burger (so fitting for the 4th of July weekend) which only cost us $1.09 thanks to a coupon from the Transcript Bulletin. That's the only time we eat at Amercian Burger though since otherwise its too expensive. After that we squeezed in some nap time then headed up to the Roberts' and ate dinner there which we didn't expect but they were celebrating their grandma's 91st bday and fed us so I can't complain. It was fun to hang out with their family. They're all grand fun. Then we headed down to my parents for milkshakes and fireworks. We couldn't see the fireworks as well as we thought we'd be able to but got a decent enough show.

So on Sunday we woke up late thanks to Charlotte not wanting to sleep between 2-4am. Teething I think. We missed sacrament since we woke up about a min or two before it started. Luckily we made it just in time for me to teach but I only had one girl in my class so Scott and Charlotte joined in and we all learned about Psalms and being grateful. The 4th seriously had to be one of the most relaxing Sunday's we've had in a long time. We just laid around pretty much and took Charlotte on a walk to Middle Canyon Elementary to play a bit. It just seems like normally there are meetings and we're doing something with family so the day just flies. Not that we don't like to hang out with our family because we really do. It's a highlight for sure but it was nice to have a really laid back Sunday with nothing to do but be together.

Then we had another gorgeous day on Monday. It was amazing how great the weather was all weekend. Basically like 80 the whole time I swear. It was so comfortable. So yesterday we really wanted to go swimming again. So we went and took Chloe with us this time too. It wasn't too crowded at the pool either. Charlotte is getting so brave. She doesn't like to be held close in the deep water. She likes to be free to move her arms and legs. She even went down the slide for the first time with Scott. Then after a great afternoon of swimming we had dinner at my parent's. They were barbecuing tri tip strips and invited us over. So we ate and then just sat on the porch afterwards while Charlotte played out front and Scott and I threw the frisbee back and forth. Such grand fun.

So it brings us all back to last night. Scott and I just talked about what a great weekend it was and how we feel so stress free for the time being. We are just really happy with the way things have been going. We're still poor but we're trying to both be more positive about things and I think it just makes marriage a little easier too. So yeah, life is good. Oh and here's some documentation from our weekend below.

These are from the parade. Lots of army stuff thanks to the depot in Tooele. Great celebration of our troops though! Some pics of Charlotte and one of Mikey. Of course they're in the sun so they're kinda like what the heck faces. They're still so cute though! Oh and one of little Marlee. I finally got to meet the 7 mo old that weighs more than Charlotte! Look at those cute cheeks...Marlee is so dang cute! Also got a pic of Daniel's awesome freedom shoes! How cool are those?! Oh and I snagged a pic of Malia's cougar and a really pretty '57 bel air. Love it!

So these were from later on when we tried to watch the fireworks from my parents. Although the view wasn't the best at least my dad, Scott and I got to play frisbee and Charlotte always loves to see the horses.

This was from the actual 4th. We decided to go on a family walk after dinner. Oh and I had made another pie and decided to make it a Happy 4th of July pie since I had tons of whipped cream to decorate with. So Charlotte and Scott played around on the playground and got to swing and Scott jumped off the swing and luckily did not hurt himself!

This was swimming on Monday. Charlotte had fun and even shared a laffy taffy with Scott that turned her tongue green. It's the bottom right pic and kinda hard to see but the best I could get from her. I think Chloe had fun going to the pool too. She loves playing with Charlotte.

This was Monday evening at my parents. It was nice to sit on the porch on the swing with Scott and watch Charlotte run around. We also discovered a pear tree in my parent's front yard. They found out they had a cherry and apple or something but we found these tiny little pears growing. Not sure what kind these are but they're pretty. Charlotte also did not take an afternoon nap so with swimming and running around while we played frisbee really wore her out and she crashed hard on the way home. She didn't even wake up. I just laid her right down... so sweet.
