New bed and update....

Ya'll probably thought I am the one with a new bed. I wish! That will be a great day because my bed is my brothers old bed and is 15 yrs old this year. If you know my brother and knew that a guy that big slept on a bed for 10 years, you'd understand. It's worn but it is a bed and I can't really complain. There are people around the world sleeping in dirt so yeah.... I should just keep my mouth shut.

Okay so back to the new bed. Charlotte has finally upgraded. Funny thing is, she probably didn't really need to but I think 2 years old is time. She never tried climbing out of her crib. Which I find quite odd because this kid will climb on anything. She loves climbing but never once tried to escape the crib. No complaints there! I just felt that with her turning two and us trying for another kid, we needed to get her comfy in a new room long before a new baby comes in to take the attention. So the binkey is gone and the crib is gone. Success! We didn't buy a normal bed because we just can't afford to buy like a twin or anything and I've heard toddler beds are pretty good for transition so we went for that. It was just over $50 from Walmart. Its very simple and cute and uses the crib mattress. I found this super cute bedding at this site: http://www.surfsidebaby.com/store/SSB1111TD.html but yeah.... can't really fork out $144 right now for bedding. So maybe in the near future. All the cheap stuff at local retail stores is character themed and stuff Charlotte doesn't know. But as I started to think about it I don't need to buy anything right now. Her crib stuff will work for now.  I think I'm gonna wait to redecorate because if we have another kid soon (I hope) and if it is a girl then the crib set can be used for that kid and the curtains match and work in there. Then once I'm pregnant and we know what we're having I can look into getting Charlotte something new. Until then she does need new curtains because walmart no longer makes the same ones so instead of just one panel I need to buy 3. So glad Scott gets paid Fri. I've been using a fitted sheet over the curtains to keep in darker. It looks horrible but works!

So I really was wondering how this was gonna work. We got the bed Mon and put it together and she of course jumped on it and laid on it and loved it. Then comes bed time. She whined and cried at first. She got up a few times. I sat in there a bit and that helped a little. Then I just decided we'll all go to bed so I left her door open and Scott was already ready for bed so I brushed my teeth and turned off the lights and Charlotte went right to bed too. It was around 9:30 I think when she started falling asleep. Not too bad. Then she got up at 6. Kind of a bummer but ok. Nap wasn't too bad. Took her like an hour or so to stop looking at books and finally lay down. She slept for like an hour and a half, got up and opened the door, then kinda shut it, then fell back asleep for another 45 min. Bed last night was good. Our new routine is to read one verse from the Book of Mormon. Charlotte can decently repeat stuff back so we just go one word at a time. When she's tired the long verses are tricky and she gets kinda bored but does pretty good. Then we have prayer together and when Charlotte wants to we help her say the prayer. After that we lay her in bed and read her little book versions of "Put me in the zoo" and "Go Dog! Go!" Those are her faves that she got for her bday. I have them memorized now. Go me! Then we get her tucked in and off to bed we go. Last night was much smoother than the first. She did whine a little and I talked to her and told her how we're all going to bed. Once our lights are out she calms down and crashes so it works for us to. We get to bed early and I get better sleep. Last night it was about 9:30 again but she didn't get up until 7:40. So that was good! Now she's down for a nap and it only took her like 30-45 min. Progress!

I'm just so glad this bed thing is working out. It's going much more smoothly than I though and she's doing pretty good about staying in it. So proud of my bug. Here is a pic of her the other day
Now here is her bed. This is her napping right now. Her bed is quite the collection. Lots of stuffed animals. She's using a spongebob pillow until I can buy one for her this weekend. The spongebob blankets are mine. Those are the extras. When Scott leaves in the morning he peeks in on her and we'll use those for when she kicks off her other blankets. She's a wild sleeper.
As far as an update. Well Scott and I have been officially married for 5 years as you saw in another post. We're hoping to go to The Roof this Sat once he gets paid. We have a half off thing that is good until the end of the month and Sat is like our last chance. We've still got lots to do in the yard. The rain hasn't been helping but the longer it stays cool the better. That means the less I'll have to run the a/c this summer. Good news, our gas bill dropped from $52 a month to $46 a month. We do equal pay so that's awesome! I have a second calling. I am now on the meeting committee for Relief Society. I guess we help plan the activities and stuff. My first meeting is today at 3:30. So that's exciting too. Oh and Chloe is almost done with school so I can't wait to be able to go hiking and stuff with her this summer. It'll be so fun when she's outta school! I can't really think of anything else and Scott is home so I'm gonna wrap it up for now!
