Charlotte Stink Bug

I don't think I've updated a whole lot on Charlotte recently. Thought I'd take a few min to do so.

Where to start? Well Charlotte is still her independent self. She does not like to be told what to do and really doesn't like to listen to me either. She has her good moments. She does like to help. She'll hand me the stuff from the dishwasher and I put it away. She is sometimes good about cleaning up. Depending on her mood and if we're trying to clean up to leave. If we're about to do something else that sounds more fun then she's usually better about it.

Sleeping through the night in her bed is on and off. Monday and Tuesday were great. She was out all night in her bed. Last night she came in at 2. Scott and I have been way too tired so a lot of times she ends up in the bed with me and Scott moves to the couch so she doesn't get kicked and kept up by her. He needs the sleep especially since this is their busiest time of the year and he's been working crazy hours. I feel like I barely see him anymore except for the weekends. We definitely need to figure something out with her before the baby comes. I'm hoping it will start cooling down here so I actually want to leave the house. It's just been too hot. And I need Scott to fix my bike. My bike chain came off. Hopefully I can get Charlotte outside more when it cools down and wear her out more in a day. That might help. Plus if I can get her to eat dinner that will help too. She hasn't been eating her dinner really. I don't get it. Maybe I'm not creative enough.

Although Charlotte drives me crazy and by the end of the day I just want to hide in my bed, she really can be such a sweetie. I told Scott I have a theory. Since he sounded like he was such a naughty little boy, that was the reason he came out as such a cute kid. I think Charlotte is the same. She really is a hard kid. I hope and pray I have more mellow kids because she really is a handful. But she is so dang cute. One of her redeeming qualities. Even when I get frustrated with her I can't help but think, gosh, if she wasn't so dang cute.... And there are times she comes over and cuddles and wants hugs and kisses and she is so sweet and so helpful. I guess those are the moments that get me through this tough age. I really believe too that Heavenly Father saved the strong, special spirits for the last days. The world isn't getting any better and he needs tough people to stand up for what is right. I hope I can teach Charlotte all the right things and I hope she makes the right decisions because there will be no stopping that girl.

Charlotte really surprises me with what stuff she picks up. She talks so much. At church she talks way more than I'd like her to but I can't get her to whisper to save her life. She can communicate pretty good. Every now and again I have no clue what she's talking about and sometimes she can show me but sometimes I'm just like... what? And she gets kind of frustrated. She is getting really good with her letters. She knows them when she looks at her books but if I write them out she struggles with a few of them. She's had her colors down for a while now. We've tried to work on the counting thing. This is how she counts: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10! And sometimes she'll repeat the same numbers over and over but its so funny. It makes me laugh. She's a cutie. She is getting better with shapes too. Sometimes when I ask her what shape, she'll call everything a circle. In her shape book she points out circle, square, rectangle, triangle, oval, diamond, and star. She has known star for a long time though. I just keep trying to associate the things she sees every day with shapes to help her to understand better. Its funny when she asks me what shape? Cute punk.

One of my favorite things that I got her to do is cute face. I always have her say cute dad to Scott because I think Scott is pretty dang cute. Sometimes I'll go up to him and squish his cheeks in my hands and say cute face. I do it to Charlotte too because I think she's pretty dang cute too. She gets her good looks from her dad. Anyway, she'll do it sometimes to Scott. She'll go up and say cute face. It's so funny. The other day she said something pretty funny too. I think I was asking her to grab a diaper so I could change her and she takes her blanket, covers herself up on the floor and says, "No, I'm sleeping." Sure you are... nice try little girl. She also asks for her vitamins. She loves taking those at night. Then she says "take dad's." She likes to take Scott his too. She also tells me now when she likes or doesn't like stuff. She'll just say "like it" or "don't like it." Pretty easy.

So for movies she still loves Lilo and Stitch and Nacho Libre. We just found Home on the Range for $8 so I got that. She loves that sing along and the Brother Bear one too. She's really starting to like Home on the Range. She still loves Spongebob. If you ask her what Spongebob says she does his laugh. If you ask what Patrick says she says duh. If you ask what Mr. Krabs says she says money money money. Then if you ask what Sandy says she says howdy. Which reminds me she still loves all the Toy Story movies too. On netflix she likes to watch Dinosaur Train and is getting hooked on Yo Gabba Gabba. What an odd show. At least they have some decent bands on there. It's sweet to see the Aquabats, Jimmy Eat World, and Weezer. The only bits of the show I had ever seen was when we had satellite at our apartment and they made fun of it on The Soup. Love the soup. All I get to watch now is the condensed version on Hulu.

Anyway, I think that sums up my little stink bug for now. I'm sure there will be more soon. There is always more with Charlotte.
