Lagoon 2011

Every year for Pioneer Day the Transcript gets tickets for their employees and their family to go to Lagoon. We took Charlotte again this year. Lagoon is getting really lame now though and they now charge for kids 3 and under if they are gonna ride the rides. So we only got 3 tickets because my sister goes with us because she can take Charlotte on some rides for us plus since I was pregnant this time she could ride with Scott on stuff. Well we though Charlotte got in for free until I double checked the day before and had to drum up another ticket. Luckily we were able to. So at Charlotte's last doctor appt we were told she was 36 inches. That was the first week of May. So I figured even if they were off a bit we'd be fine come Lagoon plus she didn't have shoes on at the time.

So we're at Lagoon and trying to take her on a ride and according to them she's not 36 inches? You kidding me? A lot of the rides we didn't want to put her on because we have a hard enough time getting her to sit with us and some are strictly for little kids so there is no way I'm sticking her in a boat in water when I don't think she'll sit on her own. This is my wild child we're talking about. So a lot of the rides she was tall enough for didn't allow supervision so yeah... sorry... it just doesn't seem safe. Then all the ones where you're buckled in and supervision is allowed or people above like 54 in can go on, she's too short for. Weird. We took her on the Log Flume where there is nothing to hold onto and no safety restraints but we couldn't take her on rattlesnake rapids where you're in a huge giant raft that is so not close to tipping and has something to hold on to. Go figure. The girl at the front was a Nazi too. She made us try to get an unruly 2 year old to stand with her feet flat and legs together and she used her little id card to go exactly from the top of Charlotte's head.... half an inch! Are you kidding me? And I seriously couldn't believe she was like "oh she can't stand on her toes. And her feet need to be together. You need to make her stand flat." You do it. Stupid teenagers. They don't get little kids apparently.

So Scott went to the front to complain. We understand that they have rules but seriously. The fact that they charge kids 3 and under now to go on rides is ridiculous. Lagoon is horribly overrated. We only go because we get tickets for free. Otherwise I'd never go. It's a horrible waste of money. We were just really frustrated because there were only so many rides we could take her on. Well next year should be better. This year was just annoying. But we stayed from opening until like 6 I think so we found enough to do and Charlotte rode the train and carousel a couple times. We did the ferris wheel and she got kind of nervous on that. I can't remember what else we went on but enough to keep Charlotte occupied and having fun.
