So Jackson had his two week appt today. He is 22 in long and 8 lbs 10 oz. He's only gained an ounce since his last visit (though I swear he eats a ton!) and he's grown an inch since birth! We just met with a PA today. But he said he's 97th percentile and we could have a basketball player on our hands. I swear we hear that every time we have a well child visit. We like to hear that though. A couple of basketball players breeding more basketball players. Life is good :) Lets hope our kids like to play! The PA said everything else looks good though. We did have him check out some diaper rash. Charlotte was pretty sensitive to diaper rash too but Jackson's has been bad and I've tried a couple things but not noticing much improvement. He just has one area that's just really sore and tender for him. The PA described stuff to me that totally made sense and I can't believe I didn't ever think of things this way before. He said lotion is like powder mixed with water. Then there is cream, like diaper creams, that is powder mixed with less water than lotion. Then last you have ointments. Powder mixed with an oil based stuff like vasoline or similar. So you want to use something oil based so it can be a barrier to moisture. So diaper creams really won't work for the serious cases. We just have to use something oil based to keep the constant protection and something clear so you can see how it improves too. He gave us a prescription for something but said even just vasoline with some hydrocortisone (to help reduce swelling or pain) should do the trick. I had bought this aveeno cream because I thought he might have super sensitive skin like Charlotte did and aveeno seems to be great for her. But hadn't noticed much improvement and didn't do vasoline long enough to see. So we'll try that and hope that helps his poor little bum. He also got his pku test done but that's not so bad compared to the billirubin test.
My little Jackson has been pretty good to me so far. He sleeps pretty good. He had a few days where his first stretch at night he'd sleep like 5 hours after pretty much draining me of all food. He didn't do that last night but we'll see what tonight brings. Even if I'm getting up every 2 to 2 1/2 hrs its not so bad. I can function on 5ish hours of sleep. I also get a chance to take a little nap while laying Charlotte down for her nap especially if Jackson is asleep. I can't complain too much. I've felt so good. I can't believe two weeks ago I just gave birth and I did it so fast. I can't believe it only took 20 min to push him out. Even with the dr cracking jokes while I was pushing so half the time I was laughing too much to push. Love my dr. Always keeping me entertained. I feel pretty healed up. I think I'm going to start walking and doing some exercises from my newest biggest loser cookbook. They have these 20 min things you can do. That will be a great start for me. That's about all I can give sometimes.
I feel like I've adjusted to two kids pretty good. I have just tried to stay calm and understand its going to take longer now with one very needy newborn and a kind of needy almost 3 yr old. I take my time getting my cleaning done but can usually do it during one of Jackson's naps. I got a good system down so I can keep my house so much cleaner by doing a little each day. It makes all the difference. Sometimes the laundry takes longer and I've been doing so much more. I just try not to stress over stuff and just take it a step at a time. Charlotte ends up waiting on a lot more since this boy seems to eat all the time. But she's been so good. Some days I can even sleep an extra hour in the morning and she finds stuff to keep herself busy. She really has done well. Even though nap time with her can be hard. Her new thing is "I don't want to nap. I'm not tired. I want to play." We hear that at nap time and bed time now. That's probably where she's been the worst and has lost toys for not listening. That and just bugging the poor dog. She wants to play when he doesn't. She's had to go sit in her room a couple times today for not leaving him be when I asked her to. Overall though I think the adjustment has been pretty easy. I am thankful I don't suffer from post partum. I know its pretty common in a lot of women but I have never had it. Although I have other female issues I am lucky to not get super sick during pregnancy or have other major issues. Things I need to remember more often and be more thankful for.
I do have some pictures too. I haven't been the best at taking pictures of Jackson but maybe I'll do better. My goal is to at least take one every Fri so I at least have one every week of his first year.
Charlotte used to sleep like this with her hands above her head. He looks just like she did.
I love his little shoes. And we can ignore his onesie says "Born in '11." Totally didn't notice that when I bought for $4 off of Target. I just liked the colors :)
His scary face. Too funny.
I love when he's awake. Just seeing this eyes and his cute little face. I am just amazed Scott and I created this and I delivered this. Its all just incredible.
I'll be holding him walking around the house and doing stuff only to look down and find his mouth has found his fingers. He's always randomly getting those things in there.
I love this one. Scott had peeked in on him and I had to get my camera and get a picture. He looks so dang cute and comfy!
Oh and I found a couple other pics I forgot to put in my last post:
Charlotte's first kiss for her little brother
And Scott with his two kiddos. Charlotte who is totally daddy's girl and Jackson who just likes to cuddle for now.
