Dessert Auction
We had our second annual dessert auction for our YW fundraiser. To anyone out there in YW and looking for a way to make some good money for your girls for camp... this is the way to go! We do a dinner for the adults where the older girls serve. Then the younger girls go and babysit for other adults who are attending. The girls make desserts and we get dessert donations from people in the ward. Then we auction them off! The girls made like $1600 last year. It was difficult for families like mine to even win something because most things would go over $20. So this year they had a bake sale table with smaller things that sold for a set price that was super reasonable. Then they also had the auction. We thought we'd make a lot less than last year but that was okay because even if we got half that would still be awesome. Ummmmm.... yeah.... how about $1300! It was incredible. We have such a generous ward and had such a great turnout. It was so much fun and I am so thankful for the leaders and girls into putting this together. I worked really hard on my cake. I want it to look amazing (and taste good of course!). I did something very similar to last year. I got a little more creative with my chocolate dipped strawberries and added some piroulines. It's a chocolate cake (Hershy's perfectly chocolate cake recipe... my favorite!) with chocolate whipped cream filling and frosting. It earned like $115 or something. I was so glad to be able to contribute that to help out my girls!
