4th of July

Our 4th started out slightly different than our past ones. Scott actually worked. He went in at 4 and worked until about 8 I think it was. He was trying to get stuff done to make Thurs. less stressful so he could hopefully be off around 5 so my sister and I could go see Foster the People (that's another post when I get pictures loaded). I got the kids up and fed and ready to go. We all put our sunscreen on and headed out the door about 10 min before the parade was supposed to start. We parked at Scott's work like always and then were just going to try to find a spot but Scott decided to try his mom and see where she was at. She was over at a friends house a few blocks away with his brother and his kids so we decided to meet up with them. We walked over there and set up shop just a few min before the parade came. It was so nice to be in the shade. It didn't feel hot at all. Scott and I couldn't help think back to last year though.

Last year we went to the rehabilitation place Scott's grandma was at and watched the parade there with her. Now I am so thankful we got to do that with her since she's no longer with us. So it was a little sad to not have her here as part of that but so glad we had that opportunity and those memories.

So anyway, here are my pictures from the parade:

Okay this one was classic. Some women in the outdoors thing for the wild turkey federation.... only Tooele :)
This was one of many trucks with signs and shirts in memory of Jordan Byrd

I just don't get some of the floats but that is what makes this parade so funny sometimes
I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of her in her outfit. This was the best I could get from this distracted girl
Some kids were handing out flags and Jackson held his own for a few minutes
They gave us an extra flag so Charlotte held two

My boys... how I love them
This is Charlotte and Jackson's cousin William. He's usually pretty chill and just hangs out... with one shoe...hahaha
I was trying to get Olivia to smile. She is William's big sister (remember the pattern how we all have girls first then boys). Little stinker gave me a straight face.

Then I got a tongue sticking out
I'll take this for a smile. It was tricky to get!
Charlotte and Scott had a picture like this so I had to get one of him and Jackson.
This boy is always so happy. I love him.
These girls had fun collecting candy and waving to people
The dude crashed towards the end. Guess it was time for his late morning nap.
He was so good and I didn't have to worry about feeding him until we got home. Thank goodness!

After the parade we decided to head home since we didn't have any money for stuff at the park. We got the kids home and had lunch. We got them both down for naps and Scott took a nap since he had worked about 35 hours I think for the week at that point. After naps we went over to my parent's. Eric came over too and we did dinner there and played in the yard a bit. Scott and I played catch. Charlotte ran around and Jackson just chilled.

After dinner we decided to go back to our house for fireworks. Jackson hadn't slept much so we bathed him and got him down for bed first. Then we let Charlotte play in the pool for a bit. We got a fire going in our bbq for smores. Between 8:30 and 9 my parents came over with Chloe and Eric then Scott's parents joined us too. We didn't do a ton of fireworks. Just some small stuff for Charlotte. I actually caught some of our dry grass on fire. Luckily it was small enough to stamp out. Oops! Go me!

Charlotte loves to run through the smoke on the smoke bombs (notice dry grass to the right... we don't have sprinklers there so it doesn't get watered and I threw a flower too close to it and it got stuck in the grass and caught fire... heehee)

If I had a good camera I could have had cooler pictures. We used my dad's torch to light stuff and this was Eric trying to look like he's spitting fire.
Charlotte was having so much fun with the sparklers. Wish I had a camera cool enough to do stuff like spell out things with sparklers but my camera isn't that capable. I can't control the amount of time my shutter stays open, just the speed. Lame.
We had a lot of fun having everyone over. Scott was setting traps in the road with the popits. Hoping cars would run over a bunch of them. Love my mischievous husband. We were glad just to relax and enjoy it all. There were a ton of people shooting off aerial fireworks this year which I thought very odd because of the 9 fires burning throughout the state and extremely hazardous fire conditions we had. But whatever. They were cool to watch!
