Each year I have made a really yummy homemade chocolate cake with chocolate whipped cream frosting. Then I decorate the heck out of it. I think the first year was just a few chocolate dipped strawberries. Then I added more variety last year with tons of strawberries all over it. This year I found some awesome chocolate curls at Orson Gygi. I covered the cake in them and threw a few chocolate covered strawberries, a few white chocolate lindt truffles and an alfajore on top. I also made a couple plates of alfajores. Instant sugar rush! They were so good!
I forgot to take pics of my alfajores. I kinda threw the cake together last minute. I had been baking all day and my first cake failed. I didn't have baking soda and the stuff I borrowed from my parent's had expired so it didn't equal out the baking powder. My oven was a mess! So I had to go to the store and buy new stuff and do it again. Then I helped decorate and ran home with enough time to throw it all together. I was hoping to put more truffles on and make it look a little fancier but oh well. Here it is. And you can see one of the alfajores in the middle of the cake.
I think this cake sold for like $115 and I had one plate of alfajores go for $20 and one for $25.
