My mom came down to see Charlotte before we left to trick or treat. Our ward only has a Christmas party each year so we don't get to trunk or treat or anything. Which is fine. Our neighborhood is small enough to easily walk around and still get more than enough candy. In Sept. Costco had already put out their costumes which I really love. It's quite the deal. You get a dress and wig for under $20. It's like $17.99 or $18.99. Can't remember but its a great deal. Then Charlotte can use the dress for playing the rest of the year. She saw the Merida dress and really wanted to be Merida this year. I'm almost surprised she didn't ask to be Rapunzel again. She still loves that. At one point she wanted to be Cinderella but that was after this costume was bought and it was not going to happen. Maybe next year. The only problem I had was finding shoes. I knew they had some super cute gladiator sandal type shoes at the Disney Store. I love walking around that store whenever we're at City Creek but man, it is so expensive. I would love to buy Charlotte all these princess dresses but they are quite costly! So at first I looked online for the shoes and they had 2 kinds. One nicer and one a little cheaper. The cheaper one was on sale! Woohoo! But not in her size of course. So I decided to wait to as close to Halloween as shipping would allow. The nicer ones were like $16 or $17 but they dropped to $12 and I got free shipping. Score! Although that is the price I normally pay for her shoes she wears every day I thought it would be fun for her to have something cute like that to go with it so we sacrificed a little to get them. She loves them. Only complaint about this dress... the glitter! It gets everywhere! But she looked so dang cute and actually wore the wig the whole time. Even after running home for a potty break. I was sure she'd take it off then but she didn't.
My poor Jack Jack. He was asleep when we came back for a potty break which was about 7:40. This poor dude. He kept wanting candy though and kept trying to get Scott to give him stuff.
I totally spaced about it being cold outside on Halloween. We had been having such gorgeous weather and it was just barely getting cold but luckily I had a light colored long sleeve shirt for Charlotte and some blue leggings she could wear underneath. We slipped some gloves on her hands later but overall it was pretty nice night.
For our pumpkins Charlotte wanted to go with Angry Birds. We did the red bird, pink bird and a pig. I bought the pumpkins like 3 days before at Winco for 14 cents/lb and didn't get around to carving them until Wed and Thurs and this were really easy patterns so it worked out. And we didn't waste any of it. All scraps went to feed the chickens and I am saving some seeds for planting next year (this way I have my own pumpkins) and we're going to roast some.
Although both kids were sick it was successful minus us having ridiculous amounts of candy left over. I swear we had more kids come around last year. Now I have to hide it away so I forget about it and am not tempted to live off of candy alone each day :)
