Christmas

Christmas came way too fast. But we have been so blessed as I mentioned in my other post. So we got a new computer. I guess that was kind of a Christmas gift. Its made teaching so much easier and basically everything I have to do on a computer easier. Love it! Plus it has some cool stuff the kids can do and games and things I can keep them busy with when I need to do some scripture reading or cleaning. Best part is no interest/no payments for 6 months so when the tax return comes I can pay it off.

I ended up getting myself something which I really was hesitant to do. I don't know why I feel so guilty getting things for myself sometimes. I just really have a hard time with it. My mom got a Kindle Fire HD at my dad's work party and it was the 8.9 in one. It was really awesome. I really wanted to get one. Well my brother looked into some stuff for me and found that Amazon was offering a 6 months no interest and they set you up on a monthly payment plan. He offered to put money into it for my Christmas gift if I wanted one. So the plan was to buy a used one for like $213. A new one is like or $279 I think. But then I saw that Amazon was giving $50 off the new Kindle Fire HDX and my bro sent me an Amazon card for $40. So with my Amazon store card and the gift card that's $90 off right there taking the price of a new one to only like $10-$20 over the price of a new HD. So I made the jump and did it. I don't have a smart phone and we don't really have any fancy electronics but it was a really good deal and I know I can pay for it. My dr is almost paid off and I won't have car insurance payments for 6 months. I also almost have some other bills paid off so I decided to just do it. Can I tell you how awesome it is. It's easier to check my email on. I can use it as a camera. I can show videos in my class at church and they don't skip and the sound isn't off from the picture (thank you slow laptop). It really has been nice. Also a bonus to keep Charlotte preoccupied when I need to get something done. So there is my Christmas/Bday/Anniversary and maybe next Christmas gift. :)

From my parents I got a torch set (creme brulee! woohoo!), a Yosemite shirt and Ahwahnee mug, and a book from Readers Digest on natural remedies. I totally want to do oils and stuff some day. I don't have the money for that now but I would love to be a healer. That is a gift I'd love to develop. I'm not against modern medicine or anything like that but sometimes its cheaper and easier and more effective using natural remedies. Especially when walmart runs out of everything anyway :) I can't remember if they gave me anything else. Chloe did my hair. We were trying to set something up so my mom would watch the kids and I could go into the school but we couldn't work it with my mom's schedule and it had to be between 2pm and 5pm because they close at 7pm. So Chloe just brought the dye home. I wanted to go back brown. She said they had been having issues with the dye hot rooting so she really hoped it didn't. Of course it did and she doesn't have to stuff to fix it and the school is closed for 2 weeks. So for now my hair is mainly brown. Some of the blonde didn't totally take and my roots are a reddish color. Its not too bad and as it fades a little with each wash its not as noticeable so hopefully the week of the 6th I can get back in and get it fixed and normal looking. Scott's parents gave us money before Christmas which helped us get our gifts and get Scott a couple books on his kindle. They also gave me a sweater and this super awesome set of Jillian Michaels workout videos. I did one last week when I was feeling better and it felt so good but then I got sick again. Boo to the respiratory illness! I think it might be the inversion. Bleh. But I am loading myself with stuff I learned about in my book so hopefully I'll be over this sickness soon so I can get exercising again. Its been hard to do anything because I just cough a lot and Scott isn't home until late and its all icy outside so running isn't the best option right now. I just need to get healthy and I can work myself out good again. I think that was it. I have such a horrible memory sometimes!

From my parents Scott got some new work boots. His last pair was dying and he's on his feet all day at work so he could use something good and supportive. He also got a Chuck Norris joke tshirt. I forget what it says. And I helped my mom pick him up some running clothes. He doesn't have any pants for when its cold so we got him a pair they had at Costco and this nice Adidas shirt to go with it. It's really thin and lightweight.  Chloe got him a Taco Bell gift card. His parents got him a nice plaid button up shirt. I can't remember if there was anything else. I need to take pictures before I put all the stuff away.

The kids made out better than I thought. I really wanted to keep it simple. My mom had ordered some stuff for Charlotte before I even started shopping so I only got Charlotte one "big" thing. She got an Angry Bird Stella pillow from us because she peeked in on it so it couldn't be from Santa. Last year I think I spent $75 at Cost Plus buying stocking stuffers but kept it to $50 this year. I love that place. So much better buying foreign chocolate for the stockings and they always have fun knickknacks. In her stocking Charlotte had some chocolate coins and bears and other candy. I scored a deal on a Rainbow Dash My Little Pony that I had a coupon for so it was a just a few bucks. She got small plastic fishing reel and fish set, a 24 piece Minnie Mouse puzzle, some playdough, a doctor set, The Princess and The Frog dvd (scored that thanks to my Disney movie reward points) and a light up pillow. My parents gave her a picnic set, and a felt sandwich making set, and a cash register to play store. Eric and his kids gave her this fun Connect Four game that has two levels and you launch the rings in the air. Its pretty fun. She also got a Superman cape. Scott's parents got her some clothes. Super cute clothes too. We had picked some out a while back and she just loves them. Aaron and Malia had us this year and they got the kids stuff. Charlotte got a Tangled princess tower and a doll and dress like her other ones. They have those dresses that just clip on.

Jackson got a set of cars and mega blocks from Santa and some random little toys, candy and playdough. My parents got him a swing that we can use at their house once Spring rolls around. He also got a Lego car thing and this Leap Frog thing that is a bucket with letters and you put it in the slot and it says the letter and the sound. Eric and his kids got him some more cars. He also got cars from Scott's parents. He loves his cars and he has Chloe's old rug that has like roads and a train tracks on it. I think he'll love it when he gets just a bit older. He still loves to line them up. Scott parents also got him some jeans. Aaron and Malia got him a wood puzzle that makes animal sounds. He loves that. He loves the wood shape puzzles. I think that was it. We have video somewhere of that stuff. I have some pictures from my camera. I think I have some on my kindle I'll try to put up sometime too.

We ended up with a fake tree this year. By the time we'd have the money for a fresh one I really didn't want to decorate only to take it down a couple weeks later. My parents had a fake tree from a friend so they gave it to us. Charlotte wasn't happy about me taking a picture. We were rushing to go to our ward party.

This is Charlotte's stuff from Santa. I forgot I scored the Lifesavers from the food drop. That was nice too.

Here is Jackson's stuff from Santa

Even Toby got something from Santa. Mine and Scott's stockings are in the background stashed with a few goodies from Cost Plus :)

Our tree changed as the weeks went by. There were less and less ornaments near the bottom. Thank you Jackson :)

The Monday before I made some sugar cookies for the kids to decorate for Santa and we did that with the kids at my parent's while Scott worked late. Santa loved them and ate all but one. He wrote Charlotte a note.

What did Jack want for breakfast on Christmas? A doggie aka a hot dog. For breakfast... gross...

Charlotte learning how to fish

I was having some fun with Charlotte's cape. Who wouldn't want a Superman cape?

We just felt so blessed this Christmas. We received so much more than we needed and we are so thankful for the generosity of our family and neighbors. I hope I have an opportunity to give back more this next year!
