I had the opportunity to take our youth to the Ogden Temple open house. It was a lot different than the last temple open house I went to. They used to kind of give you a tour after watching a short video. This time you watch a video and then just walk through. No tour or explanation or anything. I liked the tours because you'd get to stop in the celestial room for a few min and they'd point out little things. I did notice a recurring theme with roses in the decoration. If I remember right the Rexburg one was like wheat or something. I think they try to take something local and use it in the design throughout the temple. So that was kind of cool to spot. I'm guessing they changed the tour due to volume of people wanting to go and getting them through in a timely manner. I think reservations filled fairly quick but of course they never turn anyone away.
It was just so beautiful inside. I had never been to the original Ogden temple so I have no idea how big of a change it was but its gorgeous as all temples are. I don't think I ever even saw the outside of the Ogden temple besides in pictures. But it was really fun to take some of the youth.
We went to a park afterwards and it was kind of in the ghetto. We could still see the spire of the temple from the park. We ate pizza and cookies and didn't get shot! :) Then we drove home and got an amazing light show. There was TONS of lightning! The whole way home we just watched the sky light up and it got really crazy back in town. We had a pretty intense storm moving through but loved it. It was a really fun mutual night.
