So along with that, back in Sept, I was working with my mom to find family names to take to the temple. We had a youth temple trip in Oct to Jordan River and it was so awesome to see the youth be baptized and confirmed for my ancestors. So great! I also had volleyball going and we had waaaaay more girls sign up than I thought. 22 on my roster! 22! Do you know how hard it is to substitute 16 girls in? It's ridiculous. We're so doing 2 teams next year! So every Monday we had practice right after Charlotte got home from school. Then the games were Thurs nights. So it was crazy for a bit but I did finally get a coach and an assistant to help. The assistant was kind of busy with work but would be there whenever she could. The girls won about half their games. Our new beehives really made some improvements. It was neat to see them grow and develop as they learned to serve and just hit the ball over. They were awesome and had a blast.
The last 6 weeks I have been exercising every morning. I decided to start getting up at 5:45 (changed my alarm every few days so now it's about 5-5:10am) and I exercise and do my scripture reading before the kids are up. My day is so much better and I feel better. I'm not dropping as much weight as I hoped. I'm not being super duper strict with my diet. We're finally paying off some medical bills and money has been a little tighter grocery wise so I can't just spend whatever to buy what I need to eat super strict. But I am trying to eat healthier and my muscles are toning up and the fat is slowly burning away. I just knew that spiritually I needed to get in a better place before I could start trying to conquer my love of food :) I was going to need extra help before I could do this. It is a slow process but I am learning that this is how it should be. Baby steps. Eventually I'll get there. For now I know I am trying to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and everything else will fall into place in the process. Some mornings I am dreading working out but I push through it and I feel so much better when I follow through. I sweat a ton. I'm just doing my biggest loser workouts. I'm in the last week of the last chance workout one and its about a 55 min workout and I sweat a ton! I am growing stronger though. I think I'm going to do the yoga one next and try to run a bit too when I have some free time. I did a 2.5 mile run the other day and it felt pretty good. Hopefully I can stick with it all.
Scott has been busy on and off with work. Sometimes he's been working long hours then there have been some days where I've actually exercised and read scriptures before he even leaves. Which is super rare! So its been nice to actually get to say goodbye to him but I'm always in favor of him working all the hours he can get. Especially until we get out of debt, minus the house. I do want to have more kids someday. It'll either be when we can get out of debt so we can purchase a bigger vehicle (used of course) or when Charlotte will be 8 so she can sit in between 2 car seats without a booster. And I guess if we're supposed to have more. Back to Scott though. He's having fun teaching the 6 yr old class in primary. It is a pain when the kids are sick though. Especially if I'm supposed to teach but so far we find a way to make it work.
I can't really remember what else has gone on but I'm sure my memory will be refreshed with the pictures I have from the last month. I have a ton on my phone! So here we go:
Charlotte had 4 days off in October. One of the Fridays Scott was off at a decent time so we thought we'd try to do the aquarium and the aviary. The aquarium was packed. I think it was UEA weekend. I couldn't even find parking. So we headed to the aviary and figured we'd check out more of Liberty Park. It's been years since we've walked around that park. And it is an awesome park. We are so going to that splash pad in the summer. It's pretty awesome! It wasn't on but it's really really cool! But back to the aviary pictures. Here are the ones I took from that day.
This macaw was cracking me up. He was playing with this ball in the water. He'd pick it up and throw it down in the water. He was cute.
This bird was just wandering around. I think its a guinea fowl. It was kind of neat to just see this big bird wandering around.
They had a hay maze so the kids had a blast running through that.
Andy is such a cool condor. I think their wingspan is like 10ft maybe more. He was stretching out so I had to snag a picture.
Scott loves to do things backwards sometimes :)
After the aviary we walked around. There is a big hill by the lake and the kids had fun running on it and rolling around.
There is a green house there and flowers were still in bloom. It's a very pretty park. I really need to go there more this next year.
Good thing this fountain was empty. Little punk thought it'd be fun to climb in there.
There's this cool pioneer house there too.
This is one of the playgrounds there. Jack ran right over, climbed up, and went down the biggest slide there. Sometimes that kid has no fear. Charlotte had fun trying the mini rock wall there.
There was this gorgeous tree there. It was like the only one in the area that was this amazing yellow/gold color. I had to take a picture. Although this was slightly edited it is pretty dang close to what it looked like in person. It was amazing. I love nature!
The kids always love sitting on/near Scott
I only got two quick pics for Halloween. The kids were super antsy to get out of the house. So this was as good as it gets. Scott took the kids out and I handed out candy. This was Jack's first year going out and he was super stoked. I don't like sending my kids around if they can't walk up to the door themselves and say trick or treat. Maybe I'm just weird but that's how I like to do it. Scott said Jack had a blast and at one point was running up to the door saying "candy, candy, candy!" Haha! That's my little boy. So Charlotte dressed up in Chloe's old costume. It's Maleficent's dragon and then Jack had some skeleton jammies and we found an old devil costume in his parent's stuff. I think it used to be Rick's.
I haven't scanned Charlotte's picture yet but this was her school picture. My mom had posted this on facebook. This is kind of zoomed in but it turned out pretty dang cute and totally her style.
This past Saturday I rode my bike down to my parent's to help them with stuff. It was an exciting day. Got some straw bales and lost one on the highway. That was fun to pick up. Luckily they're way light than a bale of hay! The chickens proceeded to pay on and in between it while I cleaned the coop.
Jetta and Oliver are not friends. Jetta kinda wants to be friends but she's terrified of Ollie. He also hisses at her and swipes at her. This was one of their epic stare downs on Saturday. Haha!
I love being in WVC because its just south of the airport. When I was out there shopping a huge military plane was getting ready to land. The picture does not do it justice. It was a beast. I am amazed that those planes even leave the ground. I'm fascinated by airplanes and I love them. I love air and space museums. It's in my blood though. Thanks Grandpa Zapka!
Our last combined activity with our youth was a cake decorating contest. Our youth are awesome and I loved their creativity.
Look at all those girls! Love my girls! And I love that there are so many of them!
They used homemade marshmallow fondant! The boy second from the left made it from scratch. He's awesome!
House divided but we still cheer for each other's team.
We needed some game pieces and a dice to roll so we grabbed our office game because it wasn't buried under other games. This is how our FHE game went :)
Our first snow of the year. Got a nice little coating but the poor trees are still losing leaves. Some people lost their younger trees. Ours were fine though.
The day after Halloween we had chickens in our yard. I fed them some pumpkin and gave them some water. They finally found home which I guess is across the street. They were cute!
Someone squished or knocked over one of my pumpkins. Sad day!
I guess I got a couple pics on my phone so here are the kids again.
I love our trees. They are perfect 4 season trees. In spring it's just like the popcorn song. They have white blossoms all over them and it looks like they're covered in popcorn. In summer they are nice and green. Fall they turn red first, then this neon orange color, then yellow, then brown. I love it. Our neighborhood looks amazing. Then in winter they are bare and when snow or ice stick they look so cool. Love it!
At school Charlotte had a couple student tutors that would come in to help the kids with reading. They made her cards and I thought they were pretty cute. They'd always say hi to her when we'd be walking home from school.
Jack and I found a praying mantis one day which was surprising. With it getting colder they usually start dying off but this one was in our way on the side walk and I couldn't very well squish it.
This nasty critter is a german cockroach found on Charlotte's door. Ew! I am super OCD and have NEVER had nor did I even know cockroaches lived up here because of the cold. Apparently they can if they find their way inside. This is a female with an egg sac. Gross! So I threw it out but we have one tiny part of our front door where whether stripping isn't sealing it all the way. It can't because then our door doesn't close. But the thing found its way back in and by then I figured out what it was. Apparently they can't survive the cold outside so they're good at detecting heat and getting inside. Hence it coming back! I caught it and squished it and flushed it. No signs of anything else. Our basement gets pretty cold we're not messy and don't leave food out so I think they'd have a hard time finding stuff. Hopefully we're in the clear. Just saw the pest control across the street today and actually got a tip from an old neighbor that when they lived next to those people they had to call pest control a couple times. Yuck! As long as I don't see more!
One of our neighbor's who is also a youth in our ward plays for Tooele High School. Scott and I were lucky enough to have his parents watch the kids and scored a couple dates going to games. It was way fun and Maka is really talented. He's fun to watch and even scored his first touchdown this game. It was great! We love him and his family!
The girls had to come up with a cheer and a mascot for volleyball. Ours was a unicorn and our cheer was the harlem shake. Instead of the hokey pokey it's harlem shake. So it goes, "you put your whole self in, you put your whole self out, you put your whole self in and you do the harlem shake." Hahaha! The stuff we come up with. Love these girls!
Proof my kids get along sometimes and even work together!
A whole bunch of our YW but mainly Beehives. These girls... this was supposed to be "the t-rex" pose
A selfie with two of my beehives!
My mom's chickens are molting a ton so we made an indian head band.
Walking home from church I found this heart shaped leaf
My cousin sent these books to my mom. One is an old cookbook with recipes from cooking classes in school. One has some recipes and random poems. These were from my Grandma Zapka, or Charlotte who we named Charlotte after.
Caught Toby sleeping with his tongue out
Little Jack crashed in the car after the aviary and park that day.
Beautiful sunrise one morning.
Charlotte drew a picture of our house on fire and a neighbor who is also in our ward and is a volunteer fire fighter. Charlotte loves her and her little boys. Especially Ethan who is in her class at church. She said Ashlee is the one on the ladder putting out the fire. Too cute.
Jack suckered me into slippers. He loves his cars slippers.
Scott was off work one morning so we took a drive up the canyon to see all the fall colors. So gorgeous! These pictures do not do it justice!
These were from our last temple trip for the year. So thankful for the help of the youth!
Charlotte on picture day
Jack trying to change Elmo's diaper
My medallion! I added it to this necklace Scott's mom got me. I didn't like wearing two on Sunday so I combined it and I've now added the torch too. Can't wait to get my honor bee and get that on there too! Love this necklace!
Grabbed a pic with Monty while cleaning his cage.
We never had a very good picture of the Savior. This print was only $20 and then I got a free one of the SLC temple. Great deal and the artist is so talented! Love this addition to our home!
Super effective volleyball practice. That's how we roll :)
So I think that about sums it up! :)
