5 years!

Okay so technically I should've posted yesterday but I didn't. But here I am today. For those who don't know how Scott and I first met... you can read about it here...  So yesterday was September 9. 5 years ago I went with Aaron (my now brother in-law) to the high school homecoming football game. I had just met him and another guy named Woody at institute the Wednesday before. He invited me to come and hang out with a bunch of people. I had also met Malia (now Aaron's wife), Haine, and Aaron Fisk... there may have been more but those are the people I can remember right now. So we went to this game and I felt kind of uncomfortable not knowing anyone and everybody was from around there so apparently this was a big game for everyone and they were all into it. But I wanted to get out and get to know people better because I was getting kind of lonely and hadn't even lived there a month yet. I had a good time and also met Aaron's dad at the game (now my father in-law). So funny how meeting everyone for the first time I had no idea what role some of these people would play in my life today. I think the Brady's may have been there. They were a family from Scott's home ward and their son played football for the U of U. Elaine Brady works at my ob/gyn's office so we've gotten to know eachother since I have spent so much time there. That's pretty much the only Dr. I've ever been to out here minus the Urgent Care a couple times. Then Elaine's husband Roger was there for my surgery with my cyst and I think Scott felt better knowing he was in there with me and helped me out in recovery. So funny to think back to meeting all these people.

Anyway, back to the game. I really don't remember much about the game. I was talking to people and trying to get to know them better. When the game ended Aaron and I were gonna go over to the institute to play pool. He had a key and some other people were gonna meet us there. As we were leaving and walking past the bleachers Aaron said that his little brother was over there and he yelled out to him. I looked over and his brother looks over and I was thinking, "little brother? He looks older?" I had no idea how old Aaron was (he's 5 yrs older than me) so I was wondering how old his "little" brother was. I also had no idea how many brothers Aaron had but later found out he has 3 and they are all younger. So after seeing this "little" brother I was thinking.... hmmmm... he's really cute. So I asked Aaron how old he was and he told me he was 21 and just got off his mission.... yeah, that sparked my attention. So throughout the next few times I hung out with Aaron I learned a little more about his brother. Aaron kept telling me stuff like how me and his brother liked the same type of music and the same movies. It all seemed too perfect.

So 5 yrs ago between September 9 and October 16 I looked for every opportunity to try and talk to Scott or hang around him. I would try to hint to Aaron about inviting his brother to come play basketball with us or to come hang out. Every now and again I'd see Scott at institute but would be so afraid to talk to him. One time he decided to hang around after institute with me, Aaron and Malia and play pool. We played teams but of course I wasn't on his team. It was me and Aaron. I was sure someone as hot as Scott would never want to talk to me or would never remember my name and when I heard him say my name for the first time I about died. I know... I sound like a silly little girl. Then Scott was talking about how he wished he had a basketball so he could play outside. Little did he know who he was talking to. I just happened to have 2 basketballs in my trunk. So I told him and we went out and shot around. He was so cute. He would do different shots like different NBA players. We talked about basketball stuff and told him how I was a Lakers fan. I told him about my favorite shot by Robert Horry in the game against Sacramento at the last second to win the game (he had that game on tape and at a later date gave me a copy... it was cute). It was just so fun to talk to him and get to know him.

There was one time he had come over to Aaron's after he got off work and we drove to get some food at Taco Bell. I didn't have money with me at the time so he paid for it but I told him I'd pay him back. He thought he was being really funny too at the drive thru and started talking in Spanish but the girl taking the order didn't miss a beat and spoke Spanish right back. It was pretty funny. Then the next week at institute I was so nervous because I had the money to pay him back and I couldn't wait to see him. I got so nervous. I didn't see him in the bldg so I'd go out to my car to see if he showed up and he happened to when I went to my car and I just remember being so scared to talk to him. I just kept thinking, this guy is never gonna like me. He is way too cute and he probably like skinny little girls that are short and weigh 100 lbs just like all the other guys in Cali. I still tried though. After institute classes were over that night we were all hanging out and I remember sitting next to him on the ground and just feeling so lucky to be near him. He was awesome!

There was another time were I got a call from Woody to go bowling with "a group of people." Lies! It was a triple date. I was Woody's date, Aaron and Malia were together and Scott and Leah. When I showed up to Aaron's house and noticed people paired up I was kinda mad. Woody had picked me up but I just thought he was being nice. He never told me it was a date! I didn't wanna go on a date and see this guy that I thought was so cute with another girl! Plus at the bowling alley you could only fit 4 at a table and the chairs are attached to the table so Scott and Leah sat away from us. I had fun, don't get me wrong, I just wish I was informed so I could've been prepared. Afterwards they were all gonna go eat. I didn't go. I told them I had to get to bed early for work and really it was because I couldn't stand to see Scott on a date with another girl. It was killing me! So I went home and was bummed.... but things would soon turn around.... I'm gonna stop there for now and I'll post again next month to finish the story. Next month will be when we first started dating... so anyway.... until then!

hahaha... isn't it? and you have to wait until Oct 16th for the rest... that was the day we officially considered ourselves "dating." I love hearing people's "stories" too. So fun and interesting!
