OB/GYN
I've been so busy but I have a few minutes before my meeting at 3:30 so I'm trying to update really quick. So I met with Dr. Vered today. He's awesome. I am so glad he's my dr. Seriously the best. He just changed offices and today was his first day seeing patients in his new office. You could tell there are still a lot of kinks to work out but they're surviving. I was there for like an hour and a half. He was so busy. So anyway, I went in armed with all my info. I think he was surprised I had so much info and knew so much. I wanted to go in fully prepared though so I can get treated quickly. I don't want to drag anything out. So from the information I gave him he said its possible I'm pregnant right now. So if in 2 weeks I don't have my period take a test and hopefully that's it. But if not I start clomid on day 3 of my period and continue it until Day 7. Since I have pcos I will test positive for ovulation but the follicle that my ovary produces may not be very good. So since my body isn't producing hormones well it all starts with a bad follicle and not so great egg which causes my body to not create a great environment to house a fertilized egg, hence the short luteal phase. So that's what the clomid will do. Make my body produce better follicles and sometimes multiple so there are chances for multiples. Probably not likely but still possible. I will also be taking metformin so starting off slowly and working my way up on that. He also told me to be sure I drink tons of water with the metformin because if I don't and I go hiking or something it can kill me. Good to know! The metformin makes you more fertile so it will just enhance the clomid and regulate my system better so my pancreas will work the way it should. So he's only going to have me do that for 3 months max. If that doesn't work he wants me and Scott to come in together so he can rule out some other possibilities like maybe Scott being the problem. He's pretty sure that's not likely but he said the risks of taking clomid too much can cause ovarian cancer in the future so if its not necessary he doesn't want me to take it. Good thing is it doesn't sound like I have a luteal phase defect. He said its more of a secondary thing from the long cycles and the pcos. So its all fixable. Thank goodness. I'm only half broken. So he said he'll keep his fingers crossed I'm already pregnant... me too! But if not then clomid here I come. I hope I don't go crazy on it! So yeah... that's my little update.
