Relief Society crafts

I think I mentioned before that I was making some demo stuff for our Super Saturday next month. Our meeting is today and I wanted to have most my stuff ready so I've been working on some new clips and our temple pictures blocks. The temple picture wood blocks are going to be awesome and so ridiculously cheap. I think like each wood block only cost like 25 to 30 cents. I know the one length of a 2x6 is like 3.07 without tax and you get 12 full 7 in long cuts out of it and one that's slightly off but you could probably still use it. Then your only other cost is paint (small tubes are like 97 cents at walmart), sandpaper (not sure on this cost but still cheap for a lot), modge podge (I had some laying around but still the cost is minimal when for a large group), ribbon (1.97 at walmart for a spool), and hot glue and any other little decorations you might want to use. You'll see what I did in mine. Most of the stuff was just stuff I have laying around in a craft tote. The pictures you can print off for free. All you need is a 4x6. I got everything off this site http://www.lilluna.com/2010/07/tutorial-tuesday-temple-block-im-going.html
I'm so excited to be doing these. We had talked about how the prophet asked us to have temple pics around our house and in our kids rooms so we wanted to do something we could customize like that and make it cheap. Yeah... I think we found the perfect craft. So here are the two I've done so far. I'm hoping to do a couple more at least.
This one is for Charlotte's room. I wanted to do it yellow but the yellow I had was too bright and I didn't have any white paint to tone it down. So then I thought well maybe its better black but I did paint it yellow first then black over it so when I sanded down the edges a little yellow showed through. Then I had some little yellow flowers that I had for a couple years and added those. Then just made a little bow to add. I thought for it being more of a mistake at first it turned out pretty good. I might grab a couple other colors to try the same effect. We'll see.

Here is the other one I made. Maybe for our room. I did one with the words on it and one without since I figure we can offer both choices. So here is the other. This one was just painted straight black. I just took some scrap tulle and the ribbon I bought and made a bow. Then added a little jewel thing for a little bling. I like shiny things :)

Then here are some of the other clips I made. We thought it'd be fun to have the opportunity for people to make some cute hair clips. Whether they are for girls they have or themselves if they only have boys. I have some stuff to share but people can bring whatever scrap fabric they have and hot glue guns. We'll need fabric glue but I think this is something people can bring just whatever they might have or maybe if they have colors in mind for outfits they can get some fabric. But really its fairly cheap too and something you can do and just sit and chat with each other. So anyway, here's the newest I've done.

This was another headband I had done. If people bring their own headbands and stuff the possibilities are endless. There are a million ideas and directions you could go.

This is the headband on my head

I had made this flower too but it was kind of tricky. I wrapped fabric around pipe cleaners. It was a pain to get to stick but I did cut my fabric rather thin. But I just thought I'd show the pic. Not sure I'm gonna share this one for Super Saturday. Kind of a pain to do.

So yeah, those are my demo stuff. I still laugh thinking about me participating in a Super Saturday but its good to learn some new things and it gives me an opportunity to be creative. Sometimes you need a creative outlet to relieve a little stress.
