Circumcision and other stuff

So 5 weeks after having Jackson we finally got him in for his circumcision. It took forever because I kept forgetting and was waiting for some really bad diaper rash that he had to clear up. Well we finally got it taken care of last Friday. We had no idea what to expect. The doctor told us about the procedure and what we needed to do after. I had no idea there were two types of circumcisions but I guess there are. We had the gomco not the plastibell. According to my sister in law the gomco is much better. Phew. Good to know! So nice to have a nurse in the family that used to do all that stuff! Scott didn't want to sit in on it but I decided to. Wasn't sure how much I could watch without feeling sick but I did it. He barely fit into the thing that strapped him down. He's so dang long. And he weighed in at 9 lbs 6 oz there. I was able to watch a lot more than I thought. And Jackson did really well as long as he had his sucrose. But then at the end he kept trying to wiggle around and the bleeding wouldn't stop. The doctor told us this was common with larger babies and that's why she doesn't like to do them after they're 2 months old. The more they move the more it can bleed. So she had to do a couple stitches. We ended up being there a lot longer than planned because of the bleeding but after waiting a bit everything looked good.

Then it was back to sponge baths. His first bath (which was his first diaper change too since we didn't leave the doctors office until almost 5:30) almost made me pass out. When we took the gauze off it stuck a little so then it started to bleed. I was pretty nervous because she said it would bleed a little but if its more than just like a spot we'd need to take him to the ER. Scary! When it kept bleeding I felt so queasy. Scott had to get me a chair to sit down. I decided to glob it up with vaseline and give it a couple minutes. It looked like it had slowed down a little bit later so we were good. And from there on out he's healed up really well. The circumcision was probably the one thing that made me nervous about having a boy. And I have survived. Now I'm just waiting for his stitches to dissolve. And in about 3 more days he should be all healed up!

Last Saturday we decided to go up and visit Scott's brother and his family. We finally got to meet our new niece and she is adorable! Seriously so cute. I have to say these Spence boys make some cute kids! :) Addy is just so tiny and so cute. She looks just like Mylee who looks a lot like her dad. Love her! We didn't stay super long up there and with both babies being the big eaters they are we didn't get any pics. We should be seeing them again soon though. But Jackson looks quite larger compared to little Addy. Charlotte had a lot of fun though playing with Mylee and Ryan. Ryan even took her for a ride in his car that he drives around. We love going up to visit them and spend time with them. We definitely don't get to see them enough.

Earlier in the day I made some freezer meals. I have a book with recipes and it teaches you the best way and order to do things and has grocery lists and everything. I really wish I had a freezer so I could do a months worth but I can squeeze about 10 days worth in our freezer. I tried out the 10 day plan but didn't do a couple of the recipes because I'm not a big curry fan and didn't think I'd have room for this soup. So I did spaghetti pie, black beans and rice, texas style chili, poor man's casserole and stuffed peppers. I think that was it. It was really easy to do. You get all your shopping done before hand and then just spend the day cooking. It only took me about 4 to 5 hours to do. I forgot a couple things at the store so had to run there after I fed Jackson. But considering the couple times I had to stop to feed it wasn't too bad. It was nice knowing I have meals set for the next bit. And they're super easy so when Jackson and Charlotte keep me busy all I have to do is get them in the oven and dinner will be done. It will also save me money too. Its amazing what you can do with about 6 lbs of ground turkey and its only about $15 at Costco. I've also been trying harder to use up what we have and not let fresh stuff go to waste. I had some leftover meat and rice so we did taco salads a couple nights and Hawaiian haystacks another. So that on top of the freezer meals I'm more than set until Scott's next paycheck. And we're getting in more servings of fruits and veggies too. I can definitely feel a difference. Hopefully I'll be dropping some more weight soon.

I did have my 6 week checkup with my doctor. It was more like a little over 5 week checkup but things still look good none the less. I have an appointment on the 12th to get my IUD. Definitely the best form of birth control I think. Doesn't make me sick and I don't have to worry about it. It was nice to meet with my doctor too. He's seriously the best doctor and just so awesome. I hope he's around to deliver all my kids!

I'm trying to think what else we've been up to. Scott's been busy with work. Always busy. And they recently had a pressman quit. We're hoping that eventually means a raise for him but its hard to say. It's been almost two years since his last raise and we really could use the extra money to pay off these doctor bills. I'm hoping in the meantime we might be able to refinance our house. There is debt we need to get rid of and anything we can do would help at this point. So hopefully we'll be able to get some extra money each month somehow. Especially since my 10 yr reunion is coming up and we'd love to go out to Cali for it. But it all depends.

Oh I do have some pictures. Charlotte wouldn't pose for me be I got some of Jackson. I will have to do another post soon for Charlotte. She's been saying some funny things. Love my almost 3 yr old!
Love that face when he sleeps

His cute little hands with those long fingers

I just love this guy. I am so glad we had a boy. Its so fun to have one of each now.
