Kiddos and such

First off can I say how UT weather never ceases to amaze me. 93 on Monday and in the 60s by Tues afternoon and now I'm freezing. I was dying to use the a/c Sat afternoon and finally gave in. Then I shut it off yesterday. Guess I can't complain because I dropped our electricity bill to $88/mo as opposed to the $98/mo we were paying. Yahoo.

So I don't know if I ever really posted much about it but Charlotte is officially potty trained. After her 3 yr old well child visit I decided we really needed to get cracking with the potty training. She is 3 for crying out loud! But she was hooked on her diapers. Of course a week after that check up she got sick. Ear infection and all. So I put it off some more. Then I got sick and I'm just barely fully recovering from that nonsense. I think it was a sinus infection but really didn't want to pay the $25 for the dr visit and then whatever else for meds so I didn't go to the dr. Probably should have but I'm stubborn and have been told too many times in my life that there is nothing they can do but let it run its course and now I rarely go. I've seen my OB/GYN waaaaay more than any other dr. I've only been two times since I've lived here in UT. Once to be told it had to run its course. It took a month to get over that one and I had no insurance at the time and wasn't covered under my parents anymore. Of course now the age is higher with most insurance but yeah. That sucked. Just $150 to be seen and then told I have to let it run its course. Grand. The other time was a cold in my eye and I needed drops. Thanks for that one Charlotte.

But back to Charlotte bug... so we finally just kept at it. I was sick and taking care of Jackson but I was determined. It wasn't easy but she did pretty good. We got pull ups (I know its a no no but I was still sick and frustrated) but then she was getting attached to those. She wouldn't poop on the potty and could not get her to go for the life of her. I caught he taking a diaper she found and pulling off her undies trying to poop into the diaper. I could not convince her to poop on the potty. I was going to go crazy. From what I read people said to just put a diaper on them and let them poop in it if they're going to be that bad. So I did for a couple days. Then I guess it just finally clicked. She finally went. Then she was hooked. This kid goes potty a million times a day. I swear its more difficult than a diaper. I find myself having to put Jackson aside a lot while nursing to help her wash her hands and sometimes wipe or she has to wait on the potty for me to finish with Jackson. Its a hard balance with a newborn but we make it work. Charlotte has also gotten over her fear of public restrooms so we don't have to worry about accidents much. The only accidents she's had recently are a couple overnight ones. She's done awesome and it is nice to know I'll be saving money on diapers. Oh and she's out of pull ups too. She was getting a bit of diaper rash from them and said her bum hurt so I told her she'd have to stop wearing the pull ups so her bum could get air and get better. She was totally good about it. So now I have a ton of size 4 diapers. But at the rate Jackson's growing he'll be there by the end of the year. So yay for Charlotte and her accomplishment! Little punk. Not sure if I posted it before but we took her to Coldstone and let her get some ice cream for doing so good. We're so proud!

Jackson is about as awesome as any newborn could be. Like how he sleeps through the night. Ummm yeah... Charlotte still wakes up at night sometimes. He's a dream baby and makes me want more kids. Only if they're like him though :) The other night he slept 11 1/2 hours. Seriously? That's amazing. He eats great and he's super happy. He smiles all the time and is just the sweetest boy ever. He's growing so fast too. He's not even that fat but just big! You'll see in the pics below. I finally got Charlotte to hold him. She wouldn't for the longest time and now she keeps wanting to put him on her lap and play angry birds on the Roku. Yeah not gonna happen. But she does like watching stuff with him which helps me get cleaning and stuff done. So here are some of those pics I took of my two cute kiddos.

How many little babies would smile like that when Charlotte is holding them? How about none! No offence to Charlotte but most things try to get away from her :) Not her little brother though. He loves her. He is always staring at her and smiling. She can even stop him from crying. Power to her!

Look at how huge this dude is! He is getting so big! I can't wait to hear his stats on the 18th.

Aren't they cute little punks? I think so. Oh and I think Jackson's left tear duct is slowly opening. His eye has been getting better and not so goopy recently. Woohoo! Hopefully it clears up soon.

As for Scott and I we've just been doing the usual. I've been making spreadsheets so I can price out my shopping trips before I go. It's probably going to take some more time collecting receipts and entering the data in and then creating the equations on the spreadsheet. Just busy work stuff. My brother got the desktop we got from Scott's parent's up and running so I've been able to do so much more. Plus he had a bigger computer screen for me to use (like 21 in I think) so that's been nice. Never had a computer screen this big but its so awesome! I'm really excited to get super organized and get my shopping and everything down to an art. Hopefully it will be more perfected in the next few months. I've also started indexing. It is really fun. I love data entry so I find it very entertaining. I've done some death certificates for TX. It's almost like your bringing that person's memory back to life. It's kinda sad to see how some of them died. One guy was 53 and died in a car accident. One lady was 28 (so my age) and died Christmas Eve because she had a tubal pregnancy that ruptured. Another lady was 35 and killed herself with a gun. One boy was 18 and had an accidental drowning. I had one old guy that was 110! I couldn't read the writing well but it looked like he died from like lack of water or something. Seriously? 110 and dies from that? Then there was one guy they didn't even list how he died or any info besides his name and date of death. I think he might have been an immigrant from Mexico but its just kind of sad to have that kind of record. This is all from like the late 20s to early 40s. I've also done census stuff from Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas and New York along with some WWI registration cards. Pretty cool stuff. And even though I can't really go to the temple right now while I'm nursing Jackson, I at least feel like I'm completing work that will be able to be seen by these people's family so their work can eventually be done if it hasn't. So I'm really enjoying it.

Scott has been working his butt off as always. His car needs to be registered and right before we were going to do it he got a flat and of course we need a new tire. Luckily he got paid today and it was more than we expected so we can get that repaired and then the safety check then get it registered. I'm so over flat tires. We've had enough recently to last us a lifetime. We've been trying to take care of our yard better and get it back into shape. It's had a rough life. We got all our sprinklers fixed but now one is kinda on the fritz but they are working so much better. Slowly our grass is coming back. Scott's calling is always keeping him busy on the phone setting up appts. We have come to appreciate the times when the kids are in bed and we can actually talk without any interruptions. When he gets home its almost impossible because Charlotte wants his attention. So we have decided to make an effort to set aside $20 each paycheck and we are going to hold our date nights in until Jackson isn't so dependent on nursing. Last Friday I think it was, we had some extra money because we couldn't register Scott's car yet so we didn't let Charlotte nap (longest afternoon EVER!) and made plans for date night in. We rented Colombiana from Redbox (it's been FOREVER since we've seen any new movies so this was huge) and decided to take the kids up to Scott's parent's while he watered for them while they were out of town. We kept them up and had Charlotte showered before hand. She did as planned and crashed right before we made it home just after 7pm. So we could just lay her down in bed and she was out for the night. Jackson needed a bath so Scott bathed him while I ran to walmart for a couple items and grabbed some dessert there. We also hadn't eaten dinner ourselves so I picked up Cafe Rio for Scott and I went to Panda Express. I got home and fed Jackson and put him down and we ate and watched a movie all by 10pm. It was so nice and relaxing. We needed it. Then we stayed up a little later and watch half of  Seven Days in Utopia or something like that. We have yet to finish it. Maybe this weekend.

So that's our new date night plan for now. We like it. Oh and on Saturday we went to City Creek. We went to Old Navy at Gateway first to return something my mom bought Jackson that she accidentally got double of. Then we took trax down to City Creek and checked out Fanzz because Scott got a gift certificate there from my brother. Then I couldn't find Gap to see if they had the kids stuff because I need to exchange a couple shirts my mom got Charlotte that need to be a size bigger. We were past our 2 hour limit at Gateway so we kinda had to hurry back. But it was fun to check it out. It's a neat mall and Charlotte loved the water stuff. She was pretty wet from it all. I would have taken pics but I couldn't find my camera that morning and later on asked Charlotte about it and she had taken it and hid it in her toys. Punk.

Wow it doesn't seem like we've done that much since my last update but I guess there's more than I thought.  Oh and a couple cute pics of Jackson to end it all:
